A total of 724 people have already received treatment in the Kavango East Region for anthrax after the outbreak of highly contagious disease in the Bwabwata National Park.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mr. Romeo Muyunda, confirmed that no cases of anthrax have been found among humans and livestock so far.

"The Ministry of Health and Social Services is engaged in an awareness campaign in the community and residents of the Mukwe constituency receive preventative treatment against anthrax," Muyunda said this morning.

He confirmed that a total of 117 hippo and seven buffalo carcasses have already been destroyed.

"The vaccination process of livestock by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry continues in affected areas this week," Muyunda said.

Miltsiekte: 724 mense kry voorkomende behandeling

Altesaam 724 mense het reeds voorkomende behandeling in die Kavango-Oosstreek teen miltsiekte ontvang ná die uitbreking van die hoogs aansteeklike siekte in die Bwabwata Nasionale Park.

Hope they started the vaccine program as soon as the outbreak was apparent.

Have to have a chat with the travel doc before that Elephant in Bwabwata.

Part of Bwabwata National Park where confirmed anthrax cases have killed nearly 110 hippo and 20 buffalo since the start of October, has been closed to tourists.

My favourite part about the media.

Health scare as anthrax may spread across the region

Gaborone – The Southern African region has been warned to brace itself for the spread of anthrax which has killed more than 100 hippos in Namibia.

The disease has already spread to Botswana through the Okavango River and has already claimed the lives of three hippos.

The Director of Department of Veterinary Service Dr Letshwenyo Modisa said his department and other stakeholders were monitoring the situation.

Speaking during a live broadcast on Botswana Television, Modisa said they had removed more than eight dead carcases of hippos from the Okavango River. He said the carcasses of dead hippos killed by anthrax were spilling into the country from Namibia through the Okavango River.

Karl just had a great offer in the area. Thinking more of the fellow hunter that is likely on the way.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks

hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
