A Fine Balance - A Botswana Elephant Documentary
video posted to YouTube on Apr 22, 2025
(40 minutes)

"There is likely no more of a controversial topic in Africa than elephant hunting. Some will say that it's not needed, others will say it's the lifeblood of their survival. Often voices will push from either end of the spectrum - western voices that will push for no utilization, people on the front lines of wildlife engagement asking for full utilization.

Caught in the proverbial cross-hairs is the role that hunting and ecotourism can play in protecting ecosystems and elephants. Often folks that are against hunting will not see them working together, synergistically, those on the ground will beg to differ."

Good video.
Botswana originally shut down Elephant hunting because of the pressure from the greenies and ecotourism lobbyists.
Sustainable hunting, and ecotourism both have a place. An overpopulation of Elephants can be detrimental and damaging from the encroachment and conflict with rural villages.
Legally hunted elephant provides much needed protein for local villages.
A good balance is definitely needed.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
