I started working on a 9.3x57 many years ago(almost 20years ago), when Tradeexcanada was the business & bought the rifle from them, a m96 or 94 action Husky sporter, not a sporterized military rifle. As the body of my chamber was .019" longer than the body of an 8x57 new brass, I necked them straight, then necked those down using a re-bored neck and shortened .300 H&H Mag. die for placing the neck and for neck sizing the brass. This is the only die I used for years. I had another die, .356 Winchester, I used for seating bullets. Yeah, I hear you who have to have a perfect set of dies for each ctg. I don't. Anyway, I worked up loads using sized down 225gr. Hornady .375" Spitzers, 232gr. Norma, 270gr. Speer, 286gr. PriviPartisan, 286gr. Norma Alaskan, 293g.r TUG's and sized down 300gr. Hornady Interlockts and Interbond bullets.
The slowest loads were with the 300gr. bullets, at 2,170fps (5fps slower than 1915 era 286gr. 9.3x62). These had the highest WEB expansion I got on any loads, at .0002"-YES. Now, that was the web expansion over a sized case, not the base expansion.
I ran 225's at 2,558fps and 232's at 2,547fps. The 270's were 2,300fps and 286's were 2,200fps. The 193gr. TUGs went the 2,175fps all averages of 10 shots.
I found on a bull calf moose of 6 month's old, the 270gr. Speer is too soft a bullet. It disintegrated on the leg bone just below the shoulder (2" in dia.) and did not make it through the rib cage into the lung cavity. It did make the calf sick enough for me to walk up and peg him in the mellon. My buddy Brad had to keep an eye on the cow - she kept attacking us and only shouting at her stopped her foot stomping approaches.
I now load for my bro who has that rifle as I traded it for his .356 Winchester.
The company InterSurplus now owns the old tradeexcanada and they have hundreds of these 9.3mm rifles for sale.
There are no flies on the 9.3x57. Low on recoil, big on performance.
I do not know if the new company sells to the USA. The old one did not.
$275.00 to $350.00 cdn. is normal price for these rifles.
