What interested me about this is the cartridge and case design. I thought NATO had a standard. Will this set a new standard or was I mistaken?

I’ve read articles like this before. I doubt they change anything. At best a few spec ops may use it.

According to a great deal of scuttlebutt on another site I go to, a lot of folks (many of whom are vets) are of the opinion that this won't result in very much. At best, it'll be put in the special operations inventory and the Army at large won't see any (or very little) widespread adoption.

Apparently the same thing as with the HK replacement for the M110, and the USMC going to replace all their A4s with M27s. MARSOC "replaced" its M45/MEU(SOC) 1911s with Glocks but photo evidence shows that the M45 is still plenty used.
