Hi all — I’m considering purchasing a .470 Capstick (custom in an Interarms Mauser action). Has anyone owned, shot, or hunted with this cartridge? I’m looking for firsthand feedback on recoil management, ammo availability, terminal performance on Cape buffalo/large plains game, and handloading experience. Any practical firsthand tips appreciated — thanks.

I shot a custom win model 70 capstick twice never again. That caliber needs a muzzlebreak for sure it kicked like an elsphant .That rifle broke four stocks and 6 leopold varix 3 scopes .I am talkimg breaking the stocks like a wood splitter .If it had the best muzzlebreak on earth it might be shootable .That day with my torn rotator cuff i limited myself to 416 rem mag which i can shoot 125 a day on a good day .

Well, depends on rifle weight, stock comb drop, bulllet velocity, charge weight and muzzle pressure.
This is where I start before decision to build a rifle.
Then, should only be a “mild” surprise with the first shot.

There isnt going to be a difference in performance between 470 Capstick and 458 Lott. Which means the 470 will be a potent dg cartridge!

Finding loaded ammunition may be very difficult though. Your options will either be to buy extremely expensive custom made ammunition or roll your own.

The main difference I see is the frontal surface area causing a bigger wound channel. Could be overkill. Ive thought the same thing with doubles the 450 then 470 then the 500 then the 577. From the recoil tables ive looked at doest seem to be a huge difference in recoil b/t the lott and the Capstick.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
