I just had a thread going about taking a 17 Rem. to Africa and found that it is not legal in RSA. They have a minimum bullet weight of 35 gr.

I was wondering if anyone has taken a 223 Rem to Africa, and if they had any problems as it is a military round. I haven't seen anywhere that it isn't legal but I do believe some airlines have a issue with military rounds.

A second question is if this is a good round what bullet would be best a 35-40 gr. and hope it doesn't go through or a 52-55 gr. TSX and hope it makes a small exit. A 204 would be another option but I would have to buy one.

I have used a .223 Rem in RSA, on loan from my PH.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
