I’ve said it before and at the risk of repeating myself… I have found the Nosler partition 175gr bullet works very well on African plains game. Oryx, quite a few, blue wildebeest, impala, Red Hartebeest, If I had to choose another bullet I might think of Norma Oryx or Swift Aframe.

Those are indeed H&H bases. The actual rings hopefully can be located. H&H made them as did Ron Wharton, now sadly deceased. New ones will be eyewateringly expensive to have made.

Regardless of where you are traveling to if you have ammunition in your luggage and no rifle you may have a lot of explaining to do. Leave it behind.

Nice range of magnification in these scopes. My choice was a Meopta R2 in 1,7-10x42. You can get a ballistic turret for these scopes if you so wish.

No great experience on buffalo , just the one so far in my life. But a 300gr TSX from a 375 in the boiler room did the job 100%

I would have a snort of Bundaberg rum before actually considering buying some. I’m very found of good rums but you won’t find a bottle of Bundaberg on my shelf. Rough as a badgers a##shole in my opinion.

These are the type of gaiters most use in Africa. They are simply to keep thorn, burrs and sand or grit getting into your boots. I agree the the calf length gaiters would not be an item of choice in Africa.

I have used both Swarovski 8x30 SLC’s and Leica 10x25 Trinovid binoculars. I wouldn’t have liked to have been using the Leica’s in heavy bush but for plains game glassing they were fine (and light )

You’ll never go wrong using Norma ammunition. The Oryx bullet performs brilliantly. Nosler Partition are also a good bet. The Sellier&Belliot 173gr SPCE bullet is in my opinion too soft to be using on African game. I recovered one bullet this week from a deer I shot. The jacket, what was left...

Nothing wrong with something like a Zeiss Duralyt 1,2-5x36, or 2-8x42. Both have illuminated reticles. Discontinued but they turn up.
