M98 in 7x57 suited for heavier bullets ?

I’ve said it before and at the risk of repeating myself… I have found the Nosler partition 175gr bullet works very well on African plains game. Oryx, quite a few, blue wildebeest, impala, Red Hartebeest, If I had to choose another bullet I might think of Norma Oryx or Swift Aframe.

Ethiopian Airlines - Anxiety in Addis Abada

It’s a long time since Condor flew ! Now it’s Discover, a subsidiary of Lufthansa flying Frankfurt or Munich to Windhoek daily. That flight, bringing a rifle with you, is about $2800 on a good day from Ireland or the same flight with Ethiopian is approximately $950. I have flown both several...

Ethiopian Airlines - Anxiety in Addis Abada

Ethiopian Airlines - Anxiety in Addis Abada

Oh dear, this doesn’t make particularly good reading. I’m wheels up in eighteen hours to Windhoek via Frankfurt and, you’ve guessed it, Addis Ababa. Two hours forty minutes of a layover My previous experiences have been ok. The security/ serial number check in the recesses of baggage handling...

    Clothing? + gaiter recommendations

These are the type of gaiters most use in Africa. They are simply to keep thorn, burrs and sand or grit getting into your boots. I agree the the calf length gaiters would not be an item of choice in Africa.

    Clothing? + gaiter recommendations

I gave up on cammo years ago. The only thing it does is increase the profits for the clothing manufacturers. Blaze orange on a driven boar hunt ? I think nearly all states in the US have mandatory blaze orange for hunters. Sight, sound, smell and silhouette are the important elements to...

A Quick Look at Google says average daytime temperatures are 24C and 19C at night. I’d pass on the thick stuff, maybe pack a set of merino base layers to save on the packing. There is a SafariLand close to Oliver Tambo where you could pick up gaiters. Maybe there’s one in Durban also. Buy a...

    7x57 factory ammo

You’ll never go wrong using Norma ammunition. The Oryx bullet performs brilliantly. Nosler Partition are also a good bet.
