Nepal - Blue Sheep Hunt - Fall 2026

Hunt Report Post 1: I am back in the United States and finally starting to catch up with life after three weeks abroad. I continue to remain blessed, thankful, and grateful for the opportunity to visit and hunt Nepal during my lifetime.

I kept a daily journal on the hunt along with other notes. I will post narrative and photos from two days of the trip combined over the near future. I will also post a random suggestions/recommendations list after 11 days of hunting and camping in the Himalayan mountains.

Today. I will start with photos from the trip.

Hunt Report Post 2: Travel to/from Nepal from USA

I flew American Airlines from Indianapolis to Dallas with bags and checked firearm. I then had to retrieve my bags and rifle and check in with Qatar Airlines. The layover in Dallas was not long enough to get a hotel room so I ended up eating a nice dinner at the Grand Hyatt at the airport.

Checking my bags and rifle with Qatar Airlines took a little extra time because they have specific forms to complete. Plus you have to have your ammunition in a separate hard case with locks. Everyone continually asks how many rounds do you have (40). Plus they continually ask how much does your ammunition weigh (2 kg actual)

I flew first-class from Dallas to Doha, Qatar and then to Katmandu. I flew back from the hunt in “cattle class” which shaved about $4,000 off the flight bill. Caught up on 6 movies on the flights back. Plus listened to quite a few old bands with the inflight music features.

I probably brought too many copies of all the required documents but nice to have them in case. We had to show a lot of patience at the airports in retrieving and checking our rifles.

The airport security officers seemed very interested and intrigued by the rifles. They wanted to hold them and then look down the scopes. Then they had chatty conversations amongst themselves like they were playing with a child’s toy. I don’t think they see many firearms checked in baggage. I don’t believe the Nepalese people can own newer firearms either.

Here are a few more photos:
