Your opinion- Weatherby 25 RPM

I can't see how the 25RPM has more juice than the 25-06AI.
The AI gives another hundred plus fps over the standard 25-06 and that can be loaded to 3,400fos with a hundred grainer with no issues.
If'n it were me I would just stick a fast twist tube on your AI as you already have brass and dies and still have a better cartridge.
Bob
It have a little more capacity, but either with a fast twist is not enough to worry about.
I may even go to another caliber, like I said, I have the Roy with a 28" barrel!

Similar to this EckenForde Weatherby rebarrelled by CP Donnelly 28" 257 Wby. 100 grain partitions at near 220 Swift velocities

@Dirty_Dave95 - I don't have load data for 100 since most of my development was with 120 grains- mostly Nosler Partitions and Speer Grand Slams- but with 120s, using 7828 I could get 3500. Pushed to 3600 it was clearly into high pressure, so for general use I backed it down to 3400. At 3400 I got good case life- at least five loadings. At the time I was writing articles for a couple magazines- the editor refused to print my review- claiming that it would expose the magazine to lawsuits.
Just to see what would happen I loaded up a Hornady 60 gr flat nose bullet designed for the 25-20. I set a target at 100 yards, a chronograph at 15. I fired one shot- all I saw was a grey cloud at about 50 yards- the chronograph read 4505fps. I dismantled the remaining 60 grainers. I don't know what the pressure was however there were no signs of high pressure with the case or the extraction.
Shooters have long known that for some unknown reasons, some barrels are able to shoot bullets to higher velocities than others- appears I may have one of those barrels.

@Ray B
My mate Ray borrowed my reamer and built a 25 the same as mine .
The load he settled in was an 80gn outer edge mono at 3,900fps out of a 24" tube.
Says it's laser flat and knocks the snot out of thing at any sane range, sane to him is 400yds.
Bob

Nosler factory data shows a load for the 257 Wby using 7828 powder safely pushing a 120 gr Partition to 3405 fps from a 26" barrel- So me getting a repeatable 3500 from 28" barrel isn't out of reason. the editor considered it endangering everyone in three counties to shoot such a load. Oh well, that was 30 years ago.

I'm getting 3,360fps with Hodgson superformance and 115-117grainers our of my 25 with a 24" pipe without straining anything

As much as I love quarter bores, owning a .257 Roberts, .25/06 and .257 Wby, I don’t see where the .25 RPM offers much. It’s ability too handle a 133gr bullet at 3100+fps doesn’t trip my trigger. If I want to exceed a 120gr, I can just bump up to the well established 6.5PRC or a .270.

I have been looking at these too, and most likely will end up having one at some point. My friend and I recently built a .338 RPM on a tikka action, hand loading for it has been a walk in the park. Super accurate and plenty of speed. Hopefully the 25 is in the same ballpark

I have a 257 wby mag and am shooting a 100 grain ttsx at 3684 with a 5 shot average. I smacked a springbok at 435 yards and he was DRT. I also took all of my plains game on that trip up to a Kudu with it with absolutely no issue. The PH was actually giving me shit at first for using such a small caliber until he saw it does a really good job dealing death at such high velocities. I also took a croc with it, and I don't think he moved more than 4 inches after one to the brain and 2 more through its lungs. Long story short, the 25 RPM doesn't impress me much.
@Dirty_Dave95
So your 257 Bee is doing what my 25wildcat does with the same projectiles so I should have uny issues in pg if'n I get back to Africa
Bob.

.023 inch longer case than 284 which is a 7.5x55 case necked down with a rebated rim, basically the same thing, nothing really new
Gumpy
@Grumpy gumpy
They just re-invented the wheel made it look pretty and gave it a fast sounding name.
No doing anything that can't be done with standard weight projectiles and a 25-06.
I wonder if if put a flashy name in my rimmed 25 if Hornady would be interested.
Something like the 25 Screaming Jet deer slayer
25 SJDS.
HA HA HA HA

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
Gents, if you book and pay your deposit before the end of this year , you can have the bigger cull package for the 2026 price! https://www.africahunting.com/threa...griffiths-safaris-starting-at-us-2-560.96285/
