Good Gun Deals This Week

No brainer. I said I'd take it. We'll see if its been sold 83x already. One of my sons could surely use a good deer/elk rifle.
My dad actually bought that gun online yesterday. Like you mentioned, it was a no brainer. I don’t think the store knows for sure if it’s a Goudy. My understanding is that it was an AI recommendation. It does look like Goudy’s work. The 28 inch barrel is different, but a fantastic deal at that price.

There were a couple others the store listed that seemed like fair offerings. A custom mauser in 350 rigby and a Dennis Olson m77 in 264

Big problem with Cabelas is that that most Gun Library personnel never answer the phone and 90% will not return your phone calls or emails. So, when you want to buy you are unable to do so. Seems like it happens so much it feels like they put something out there that is already sold at a bargain price.

I called and requested additional photos on a custom rifle awhile back and Gun Library Team Lead (their phrase) said they were unable to provide a photo. I guess they do not get paid enough to provide customer service.

That store, Thornton I believe, did have some nice guns listed.

It’s a toss up with most of the Cabela’s libraries. I’ve had good experiences and bad experiences. There’s enough good deals popping up from time to time to keep me coming back.

I think a big problem with trying to get them to answer the phone is they are understaffed. Literally nobody to answer the phone.

I’ve purchased quite a few from Cabelas/Bass Pro. I just have them shipped to my local store and have them refund my $$ if it’s not what was advertised or there’s a problem. They’ve changed their system too so you can purchase directly online.

I miss the days when you could have a gun shipped in for $25 if you took it, the $25 went toward the purchase price, if you declined, you lost $25.

I don't know what a good value is on that 318. Main reason for following it was to try and get a gauge myself

I would say a 318WR caliber no-name or utility grade rifle is actually a detriment to desirability.

When you think of meteoric prices for vintage guns, it is the story of the caliber's feats coupled with it being an exceptional prime example. 275 Rigby, 333 Jeff, 350 Rigby, 318WR, 400/450 Rigby, 240 apex, 275 Holland...they better built by a very highly regarded maker and they better have built in the common-use timeframe of that caliber.

Buying a $2000 no-name 318WR only to scrounge for months or years to find $2000 of dies, bullets, brass to shoot said rifle is unpleasant and the juice just isn't worth the squeeze when a 338/06 is ballistically the same exact thing and requires nowhere near the costs nor fuss.

Disclaimer: I love 318s and I've owned 318s. I intend to own more 318s, but they will be Westley Richards made rifles.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.

Noah,
I might be interested in the 470 Woodleigh Softs if the price is right for the entire lot. Are you planning on going to the Tulsa Gunshow in November? If so, perhaps we could meet up.
