For sale is my Mark X Mauser 30-06 re-imagined by RJ Renner into a Germanic style Stalking rifle. This beautiful rifle points like a fine shotgun. I have accumulated a few too many rifles including 3 Renners. I need to make some room for a couple more rifles inbound over the next few months. The Germanic restyling is a $1,950 package. See attached photo. Priced at $1500. At this price, you get a $450 discount on the Renner work and the donor rifle for free...

Nice rifle. Not to distract from the sale, but can someone tell me the function of the side panels? Decorative only? GLWS.

I’m probably not the guy to answer that. He offered them as part of the package and I just said yes. No idea what or even if they have a practical purpose.

I think they were done as a precursor to cross bolts; more material left behind, more strength in that area.
 
Is it drilled and tapped or irons only, Sir?
 
Did he straighten the bolt as well? Hadn’t seen that on his rifles before but never seen a mark X with a straight bolt either.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
