Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

.

Tough, real tough to go down to just 3 ! But I'll give it a bash .....

Number 1 / .22 we all grew up with it, its a superb rabbit, hare, pigeon, small game round. Cheap, super easy to shoot & does the job. You have to love it!

Number 2 / this is the tough one for me & I'll do an either or .... either the 6,5x55 SE a super flat & long shooting, low recoil, accurate round that will cover everything in Europe (ever bear) or 8x68S which I just love as a caliber that goes a bit further than the 6,5 & carries a bit more omph - plus it will cover Africa & the States !

Number 3 / got to be the .404 Jeffrey, although I don't own one. I have a .375, a .416, a .450 & a couple of .470s & I guess that is why it is the .404 Jeffrey, because I do not have one !!!!!!!

Why 3 & not 5 ??

My three “favorite” cartridge list changes nearly as often as I change my underwear. Current lineup would be:
1. 7mm REM Mag
2. Federal’s new Peak 6.5 Creedmoor notwithstanding it hasn’t even hit shelves yet, and
3. 6.5 Swede.
The three cartridges that would be the last three I would ever give up if civilization were ending? Unequivocally they are:
1. 30-06 Springfield
2. 308 Win
3. 223 REM/5.56
And I will always own at least two rifles chambered in those three cartridges. Currently two ‘06s, three bolt action 223s, two ARs, and five 308 Wins. And a goodly supply of fodder for all three.
Remember boys keep an eye out for the air assault black pajama ninjas fast roping into your back yard

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
