Kootenay,
Here are a couple of pictures of my in progress rifle. Its a Winchester 300 H&H with an octagonal Lilja barrel. It is currently at the engravers and then it will blued, but this is how it looked when I last had it it in my hands. I can't take credit for the stockwork, Eric at Inner Mountain in AZ did the stock, I've just handled the metalwork side of things. One day it'll be finished.
This was a pre 64 model 70 Winchester that I picked up that had a bad crown and someone had cut it back about 1/2 inch. Decided to make a full-stock 21 inch barreled rifle.
@pmangelos@Stompbox M70's?... Pre 64?... 300 H&H?... *Chefs Kiss* Absolutely love it!
My current project Is a 1953 M70 in 8x68s, with a quarter octagonal barrel and rib. I am currently in the inletting phase, and this one is being a bit of a bear. The rifle came from Ralf Martini when he moved back to Germany a year or two ago, i bought it from him as an unfinished project. I probably have a whole weekend of stock work to get the inlet done, and it needs a bit of metal polishing, before it heads out for bluing. To late for this year, but next year I will have it out hunting in the Kootenays (pretty on brand for my user name). The stock is a chunk of New Zealand Walnut.
