I hunted for 1 of each for several years for my cartridge collection. Very difficult to find. I know there was a company in the US making brass for it. I will see if I can find their info for you unless your looking for original stuff.

Thanks .. I don't need original

They are sold out right now but will make them.

well a chamber cast shows my newly acquired Gibbs double rifle is NOT a Gibbs 461 caliber ... and I don't have a clue what caliber it might be .. Above the cast is a Gibbs No.1, and below is a Gibbs no.2. Base and neck diameters and overall length are correct for a Gibbs No.2, but the shoulder is too far forward. Any help?

500/450 No.1 Express

Is it stamped 52 or 48?
52 bore is a 450
48 bore is a 461

Well, it's a 461" bore anyway.
The cast does look a LOT like a 450No.1 Express though so maybe at some point it was rechambered to a more accessible cartridge.
Also, in my original 461 Gibbs, the rifling runs right up to the case mouth whereas yours has quite a bit of lead from the chamber to the rifling.
I suppose, if you keep it, it will be a matter of using a bullet of the diameter the case opens up to when fire formed.

Not sure if I will keep the rifle ... I ordered Gibbs 461 No.2 dies, but not sure they will work for this cartridge. They could neck size and crimp, but they wouldn't push back the shoulder .. bullets were not an issue because I have .463 swage dies .. shown are before and after pictures of my swaging lead bullets, and jacketed bullets. Lead .458 dia. 405g swaged as is, and then with a quarter jacket added. factory bullets were 400g and 510g factory .458 bullets swaged to .463 dia. .... I just thought, maybe I could use my 500-450 dies to push back the shoulder ...

Brass is easily made from 500-450 or 500-416 or 500-465 .. or even 500NE ... I can't imagine anyone that would defile an original George Gibbs rifle like this. I wrote George Gibbs Company to see if perhaps this was a late Gibbs 461 "No.3" cartridge.

There isn't one.
Does the chamber/throat look "newer" than the rest of the bore indicating a more recent chamber ream?

The reply from George Co. was that they chambered over 21 different calibers in double rifles, and perhaps it was a 500/450 2-3/4", but I can't find a cartridge drawing that comes close to my chamber cast. Also the bore of this DR is over .461 so a .500 bullet would rattle down the barrel,
