In August I am going to Namibia. I have tried to go online after I registered which was successful and download the Evisa so I can fill out then upload now. However while it tells me they have sent my confirmation of registration to me email nothing shows up. Yes I have looked in my scam folder but still nothing there. It is under the link for Evisa upon arrival. Does this mean they just will not let me fill it out ahead and upload now? I am less than 90 days out.

Hi buddy! The whole process is a cluster! When I went last year, I completed the Evisa ahead of time just as you have. When I arrived, they told me to fill out a visa application on paper as well. The customs officials had no access to the E Visa system, so it’s an utter waste of time. Don’t worry. They’ll be happy to take your money and your visa form when you arrive. Good luck on that leopard!
 
Just go in and start the application. You can fill out the one they give you on the plane but some of the booths didn't look at them. Once you land, run to the terminal or you will be in line for a few hours or more, especially if there are other planes landing.
 
Don’t stress, its a small and very laid back airport. All the ladies working the desks are funny and will help. You will get in either way if you have a smile and some patience, oh and a pen!

Make sure you have your own pen to fill out any paper work. You don’t want to share one of the 3 provided pens with an entire flight from Frankfurt :ROFLMAO:
 
Print out the E visa and you sign and date it on arrival.
 
The eVisa system was down when I went, so we all had to fill out paper applications. 2 hour of my life I will never get back, but it was a small price to pay to hunt Africa again.

This is true! I found out the hard way my first time over in ‘23. If you pack a few cases of pens in your carry on, you’d probably be able to sell enough in the first 15mins to pay for a few trophy fees! The only thing more scarce than writing instruments at Hosea Kutako International is water in the Namib.

Ya I would say its a joke money grab but it is what it is. I was there 3 weeks ago and my Evisa was good enough. I was in business class on that leg of the trip so I was able to get off the plane quickly and get in line fast, maybe 3rd from the front.

They did make us write out the address and hotel we were staying at that night, which was quite funny.
 
I was there in mid-May, about 3 weeks ago. I was also there last year, the day the new visa program started actually on April 1, 2025. My advice is to do visa on arrival - manual. This means grab the paper form in the airport, fill it out onsite (with the trusty pen you brought). This is different than the visa on arrival - electronic (meaning filled out ahead of time, but technically issued on arrival). It sounds confusing because it is, two types of VOA's, manual and electronic. As well as a visa which is actually granted ahead of time, not on arrival. Also, be aware not all nationalities are eligible for VOA's. Some nationalities have to apply well ahead of time before they ever get to Namibia, in the traditional sense of the process. That is one reason they have different systems. US citizens and many others are eligible for VOA.

I say all this because VOA-manual folks were directed to their own dedicated line, by far the shortest one. In fact, this way gets you through faster than anyone else in my experience, even though you are filling out the form and paying at the airport. I paid by credit card btw. You will get in, just be patient as has been said. Cheers

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
