Another curious question - what causes that cool/beautiful "fold" in the wood pattern on the stock by the butt?

Is that a scar in the history of the tree? That wood is straight as an arrow and thwn that lovely fold. I likey.
 
That would have went really well with my “Safety Third” cap. :)

Beautiful rifle! I have its exact twin in a 9.3x62. Wayne did exceptional work for sure. these rifles are right up there with the Dakota 76 Safari I once had.
