I’m considering a Remington 700 long range 26” 7mm PRC and would appreciate input from anyone with real field experience behind one. How’s the action, accuracy, feeding reliability, and overall quality?

I have a M700 Long Range with 26” barrel chambered .30-06 Springfield with Bell & Carlson M40 stock. I like the rifle. Been shooting mostly 200 gr and 220 gr bullets with MOA capable accuracy. Feeding and reliability are fine. Overall quality is factory good; bore is a tad rough.

No personal experience, but was watching American Sniper on cable recently and was curious about Chris Kyle's rifle of choice and it was a military version of the Remington M700.

The Rem 700 platforms have a long history of accuracy right out of the box. I have two, which both are sub-MOA accuracy.

The Model 700 action and platform was used by all kinds of competitive shooters - the absolute choice for metallic silhoutte shooters when that sport was very popular. Lots of bench rest rifles built on them too. They are a fine and reliable hunting rifle, usually very accurate, but the older ones kind of got a bad rap, when "Wanna-be" gunsmiths got a hold of them and started fumbling with the trigger mechanism

The Rem action is usually accurate and can be blue printed for extreme accuracy. I would ask if the rifle has been rechambered from any other 7 mm calibre. You may run into twist rate problems if it is a 7x57 repurposed. For long range, you will be wanting to use the heaviest bullets available so just double check your twist rate.

I've put a fair bit of rounds through a Remington 700 Long Range in 7mm PRC (26" barrel) out to 800+ yards in the field and at the range. It's a solid factory long-range option, especially if you're not dropping custom money yet.

Solid pick for long range 7mm PRC work. The classic 700 action is still smooth and fast, accuracy is typically very good sub MOA with factory Hornady ELD M or good handloads, some guys hitting 0.5-0.6 MOA at 300. Feeding is generally reliable in the Long Range model, though occasional mag related hiccups show up like on many 700s.

Overall quality under RemArms is better than the old bankruptcy era guns heavy 26" barrel tames recoil nicely and adds velocity. Not a custom rifle out of the box, but a strong value for field use if you check it over.

What I like about the new RemArms is that they incorporate drop-in barrels like Ruger and Savage. And they are very accurate.

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary
