I'm curious if they have a plan in place for taking over Kharg Island, and if they will?

Iranians are stalling and trying to play the U.S just as they always do

Nowdys though, one can’t get ABC, CBS or NBC free without some sort of a subscription. The flat TVs don’t come with rabbit ears.

I do not have a cable package, just a 2 Gig internet connection. If I try to stream anything from the “free” 3 I get a message saying I need a subscription from my Internet provider.
Then theres STAR LINK Elons sattelite. Cost about110 @ month when I first signed up couple years ago.

Of course I am not naive, I believe every word Trump says, Like it's gospel ;)
Funny how the word GOSPEL sets the highest standard that exists. Even a higher bar than CBS NBC CNN FOX AND ALL THE REST,

... One way or the other.

At some point, it will be "the other".

Yep, the Iranians are masters at playing “rope a dope” politics. They will drag and drag to delay the inevitable.

This might not be the worst position to be in...

The blocade remains in place.. the Iranians remain in a financial stranglehold..

Their airspace is dominated and they have little to no air force or navy left.. their ability to resupply their proxies is almost non existent..

The Russians are in no position to resupply them via the caspian sea.. they have no money to pay the Russians or the Chinese if they wanted to purchase additional munitions, etc..

They definitely have additional time to build more drones.. but.. sooner or later the materials they need to build the drones and the explosives they need to arm them run out.... and all the while they are attempting to rebuild their military, the US military and Israeli military are also ramping up.. the US has the ability to out pace Iranian build by unimaginable amounts..

So their military is already a shell of what it was 7 weeks ago... their economy was in tatters before the war.. its in far worse shape now.. the cost for them to rebuild is in the hundreds of billions.. but as long as their ports are blocaded they have no means of earning those hundreds of billions that are necessary..

and the US and Israeli inteligence aparatus has already proven it has the ability to enable the military to take out key leadership with minimal effort..

time is on the US's side..

time allows for better targeting.. more resupply than the Iranians can keep up with.. more destruction of the Iranian economy.. allows the global markets to continue to normalize (the dow is sitting at 491K as I type this).. for US oil to continue to ramp up.. etc..etc..

what does it do for the Iranians?

you know we are watching via intel assets and sattelite everything within 100 miles of their nuke facilities.. if they make a move there they'll get pounded..

and you know we're watching their remaining ballistic missile stores.. if they move anything that just gives us better targeting information for when the shooting starts again..

I dont think we should give them a whole lot of time...

but.. another week or two to come up with a "proposal", that we already know we are going to reject... and then another week or two to "negotiate".. and then either end this thing, or go back to killing mullahs.... I think almost all of the advantages in that situation are the US's.. the only thing Iran is getting out of the deal is another couple of weeks for key leaders than know they have bullseyes on their backs to survive..

American PsyOps and Cyber capabilities are SUBSTANTIALLY better than Irans as well.. time is on the US's side there also..

China got hit with one of the most massive and successful cyber attacks in the history of the world just a few weeks ago.. Irans systems are FAR more vulnerable (and largely of Chinese design).. what do you think US military and intel offensive cyber guys are busy doing right now while there is a lull in the shooting war? and.. if you dont think our intel and psyops people are messenging the Iranian people as well as their military every day, you'd be sadly mistaken..

Lets hope he leaves Nato now then instead of just talking about it. It would probably be better for everyone if he just got it done instead of just keep undermining whatever remains of the detterence of the alliance.

You keep coming back to this point over and over again. How does this make Europe stronger? What is Europe doing to make itself stronger?

@mdwest, good post but what do you think will happen when the War Powers Act kicks in? I fear that’s when it might start going a little sideways for us.

Trump will do the same thing that Clinton did with Kosovo which lasted 78 days...

He will argue that the WPA doesnt apply because ground troops arent involved and therefore risk is minimal.. and will force it to the courts if Congress wants to challenge him..

Clinton actually rejected a resolution from Congress to continue the war (all politically played) because "the act doesnt apply).. and then rejected a resolution that required a withdrawl..

Obama did EXACTLY the same thing with Libya.. he argued that the US wasnt engaged in hostilities because it didnt deploy ground troops...

So not one, but TWO beloved D Presidents engaged in air wars and argued that WPA didnt apply.. and D's had no problem with it..

Trump will argue that a precident has been set, not once, but twice... and that the operation is limited (air power and naval power only).. operations are defensive because Iran wants a nuke and has for 47 years declared death to America, etc.. and that they were continuing to progress toward nukes despite multiple international agreements violated that said they wouldnt and in current negotiations continue to say they will continue to pursue nukes..

And.. he will push it all the way to SCOTUS... which will take A LONG TIME... because quite literally every president, both D and R have challenged WPA and its constitutionality and legitimacy since it was passed..

If theres no deal at the 60 day mark, absolutely nothing will change..

and if the Iranians pushed the war to the point where ground troops became necessary.. Congress would have no choice but to declare war or they'd all be getting sent home in November regardless of party affiliation..

Another thing to realize about the War Powers Act is.. there is no cool down period build into it.. which is something that can be exploited as well...

On day 59 declare "we're done.. conflict over!"...

Then on Day 61 declare "well... the Iranians have screwed us again.. we have new inteligence that says they are pursuing a bomb again!".. and initiate a "new" conflict..

There are all sorts of way WPA can, has been, and will continue to be challenged..

Its nothing more than a big nothing burger that congressmen shout about on the nightly news to make sure their districts continue to think they are relevant..

If the people and Congress have the will to prolong it. Iran's gamble is that the USA will have to scale back due resistance to the Iran war at home.

So, we are on a short fuse to resolve this.

I disagree..

Let gas fall back to $2.99 a gallon in the next couple of months and the average American will care more about who Kim Kardashian is dating than whether or not we are killing mullahs after dark..

Congress doesnt have nearly as much authority as it thinks it does.. Obama and Clinton already proved that with Libya and Kosovo.. and the people dont give much of a shit as long as the weather is nice and they can afford to put gas in their car and enjoy the weekend..

Summer is peak period in the US for people to stop giving a shit about much of anything...

what he is failing to recognize is Trump cannot leave NATO.. only congress can do that..

what he can do is strangle it..

which is what he is doing...

We already had a terrorist attack in Austin, Texas, last month. There were others around the country. All of been buried and no further mention made of them. If the man was wearing a Trump hat, the media would run the story every day.

AUSTIN, Texas — A gunman wearing clothes with an Iranian flag design and the words “Property of Allah” killed three people and wounded 14 early Sunday at a Texas bar, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The FBI is investigating the shooting, which erupted a day after the U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Iran, as a potential act of terrorism.

The gunman was identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

Diagne first entered the U.S in 2000 on a B-2 tourist visa and became a lawful permanent resident six years later after marrying a U.S. citizen, according to DHS. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2013, the department said. Diagne was originally from Senegal, according to multiple people briefed on the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.
