About your Kimber Remchester, nice wood is its best feature.
Otherwise:
Pipe action for economy and ease of production.
Add-on, washer-type, primary recoil lug cleverly hidden by a non-threaded projection of the front of receiver.
Worst of all is the chambering.

I might tolerate it, for the nice wood, if it was chambered for the more powerful SAAMI .458 WIN MAG.
Better make sure it has a SAAMI .458 WIN MAG reamer run into it to extend the throat, to improve it.

Or do you want to just keep it around to poke fun at ?
That's what I do with my unimproved Ruger RSM .458 CENSORED.

With the AK Arms coffin plate, iron-sighted rifle weighs 8 lbs 0.2 oz, with no ammo.
Scope and ammo gets it comfortably over over 9 pounds.

All that trash you were talking about my Kimber being cheaply made. And then you come up with this investment cast receiver rifle. The cheapest form of rifle manufacturing ever devised. Good thing it’s chambered in the diminutive 458 Win Mag. Otherwise it would probably blow up. :ROFLMAO:

I like many Rugers, but quality is not what they are today, and it is only getting worse. If Beretta ends up owning them, maybe things will improve. That is neither here nor there for this thread, nor for older Rugers, which can be very high quality or very low quality, like most other brands.

A simple shimming or tight glass bedding of the front of magazine box against the magazine well of stock will prevent dimpling of sheet metal by recoil slamming bullets forward in box.

What are you doing here? Shortening the mag well length so front wall can’t run into bullet tips?

Bullet tips run into the front of the mag well, mag well does not run into the bullets !

This picture shows reinforcement of the external front of the magazine box, no shortening of the internal length of the magazine:

Seems all those walnut-stocked CZ 550 Magnums
(and the Kevlar-Aramid-and finally B&C same-same synthetic stocks)
had their sheet metal box fronts unsupported, and I got tired of seeing dimples there,
from bullets slamming into them.
So I always had them reinforced with extra steel, EXTERNALLY.

Merely hypothetically I suggested that If one did shorten the box at the front with extra steel blending into the feed ramp, THAT MIGHT BE SWEET.

I have never warmed up to the poorly designed 3 position safety the Rugers have, which is why I only have one of them. The new gen 2's are not nearly as nice, but the safety is a much better design. Your bolt guns shown look really nice, and mine does shoot very well. I just wish they had actually copied the M70 instead of going their own way on the safety.

The #1's on the other hand...I have never had one, but have liked them for ever.

I vastly prefer Ruger's 3-Position Safety... I switched all my Ruger rifles over from the Tang safety models to Mark II's soon after they were released. I have owned well over 100 Ruger No.1's... I love playing with the platform and have done considerable hunting with them, but these days, when I am not carrying a bow in the bush, it will be a bolt action rifle... so my No.1 collection has been pared WAY down. I'm not sure what you mean by "gen 2", perhaps "Mark II?" Ruger has not significantly altered their 3-Position Safety design since it's introduction, mid-1989... and the line was completely switched over by mid-1991.
 
Why do you like the Ruger safety? It is about impossible to use correctly, meaning safety moves from on safe to fire while mounting the gun, shot breaks as soon as the mount is finished. It rotates too far to the rear while on safe, where the M70 moves more forward and back.

The gen2 I referred to is the American Rifle, which is quickly going to replace the 77's. It has a 3 position tang safety that works well. The gun is very pedestrian, but the safety is good.

That is a lot of #1's!
 
The American is crap. The M77 Mark II is more refined. I guide hunters... and have more than four decades. Do you know how many times I have found M70 style safeties in the FIRE position on clients rifles while hiking and stalking game? Hundreds... I have never had an M77 move off full safe accidentally. When you are close to game or waiting on stand or action is imminent, you move the safety to "MID"... trigger locked, bolt free... from that position it is quick and quiet to go to fire. The only people complaining about Ruger's 3-Position safety are people who don't know how to use it... many people only think in terms of "on or off," that is not the whole story, or the refined beauty of the 3-Position Safety.
