For Sale Van Orden Pre-64 Model 70 30-06 Sniper Rifle

Have to remember a day when folks were particular about iron sights because they envisioned using them. Lots of now forgotten sights like the Sourdough, flat topped blade, etc. that would hardly be considered today?

Thanks so much for everyone's interest and enthusiasm about this rifle. Everyone's encouragement to keep the rifle was touching. Just so you all know that I'm not completely heartless :), I do have a couple of sentimental guns from my grandparents -- the Parker Trojan 20 gauge he bought with his paper route money in ~ 1918 and her Savage Model 99. The Model 70 has found its third owner. He is excited about the rifle and its history, so I know it's found a good home!

Just wanted to give a big thank you to @Garciamarquez1918 for this rifle deal. Excellent communication, the rifle arrived packed for world travel and was waiting for me when I arrived home from out of country travel. I’ll also drop a big thank you to Vintage Gun Scopes out of Corvallis, MT who graciously outfitted the rifle with a period correct Unertl, along with a set of Steve Earl mounting blocks. I threw on the GI sling for good measure! Garcia, I’ll be taking her out for antelope this fall just for old times sake. Thanks again and thanks to AH for being the conduit.

Omg it looks fabulous. I'm thankful it found such a great owner who is so psyched to have her!

For those knowledgeable on Van Orden M70s- It's noted that there was a series of serial numbers involved with the rifles- does that mean there was a starting number and a finishing number with some interspersed or is there a block of numbers where all of them were filling the Van Orden order?

I don't have the book- Is it a list of several non-consecutive numbers or a block?

It’s a list by serial numbers where known and then blocks of numbers if purchased in groups.

@AZSkibo THANKS A BUNCH!! the reason I was wondering is that I'm aware of a M70 30-06 in National Match configuration. However it was made in 1950 so was earlier than those for VanOrden.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
