I was at Pheasant Fest this past weekend, and there were a handful of of African hunting outfits there. (I was a little surprised to see any) Anyway, they all were having drawings and since I really want to do a safari, I entered all of them. This morning I received an email from Jacques from Koringkoppie Safaris that I had won an impala and warthog hunt.
Im not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I also feel like I have a decent BS meter, and my immediate thought was "ok, these are two pretty inexpensive animals, they are doing this with the thought that folks will add many more animals," "i bet everyone that entered got this same email"
Anyway, the first search result brought me to this forum and an absolute horror story, so registered and decided to ask yall's opinion haha.

Seriously, you'll kill both of those animals the first morning, then what? I don't see a trophy price list on their website, just somewhat pricey packages for common animals.

I wouldn't pay the airfare to fly across the street for an impala hunt. Warthog might take a day or two if not baiting them. If baiting or over a waterhole, the "hunt" is an afternoon project. Just for kix why don't you ask for their trophy fees list for all available species and then get back to us. I think that will tell the tale.

this was the horror story i was referring to, didnt know if this was the exception and not the rule

IMO the majority of bad safaris start with incorrect expectations and poor assumptions…
If you are interested in the safari contact them and ask questions, lots and lots of questions….. Even better if you can catch up with them in person in the States.
Make sure they know what your expectations are, and that you understand what experience they are offering.

I remember that horror story. Definitely don't take your wife/girlfriend! I'm the kinda guy who appreciates adventure but that safari had too much of the wrong kind. :D

The good news is………if you are interested in going on safari in Africa, you’ve come to the right place.

Ya are correct in understand that you did not actually win anything and it’s just a gotcha marketing ploy.

You will actually save money and get way more value hunting with a sight sponsor on here! Don’t give up on Africa

My first PG safari was in Namibia with @KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS
You should check them out.

You will love Africa

In Africa you always get what you pay for. You are better off paying too much than too little.
Go with quality and not this bait and switch crap you are looking at.
You cannot get a decent hunt for under $8000 in RSA or Namibia. You will likely spend more if you want quality

.............. "i bet everyone that entered got this same email" ..................

I would bet on the same result. It's cost you nothing so far.

Now that you have become a member here. Look around for a reputable outfitter. Good luck.

You did not win nothing, you paid nothing. Move away.

I dont have any bad experiences in all 5 of my safaris, but also I do not have any experience with donated hunts.
What I have learnt on this forum:

1. Donated hunts: more problems than solutions. This forum is complaint book for them.
2. Standard safari packages, fully paid, or on optional discount, end of season, cancellation hunts, like you will find on this forum, get 99% of positive feedback.

So, in conclusion:
Search deals and offers section of this forum.
Plan of what animals you will hunt.
Find the hunt, and go.

This forum is great platform, all sponsors here are vetted, and proven.
You can not go wrong with them.

Welcome to the forum!

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is 239 565-8988. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
