I recommend you find a local coin shop and ask them to assess the collection and give you a price. This kind of implies you find out if the shop can be trusted. This will preclude shipping losses and scams (if the shop is well established). You could also see if there is a collector's club nearby. One last idea - see if there are any coin shows near you and take it there - the assessment may not be feasible at the show, but you should be able to find a dealer you are comfortable with.

I’m facing the same thing myself. I’ve been collecting for over 40 years and don’t have any kids or grandkids that have shown any interest

have you asked. My father gave away most of our family heirloom stuff like silver cups related to Mardi Gras and stuff for that reason. Only problem is no one knew they existed until after he gave it away.

I’ve asked every one of them and the only answer was what should we sell them for. Lol

None of my business really and not trying to pry
But have you introduced the grand kids to coins? Or showed the value that they can have in had times?

My kids are not interested passed the sell value. One of my nephews is. Especially pointing out some of the tax or devorice
“value “ of no paper trail.

I would take a few coins that you know the value of to a coin shop. To see what they tell you.
And ask around about the shop.

Cash I don’t care for myself my aunt put some of the red ink 2 $ bills up I think 1928

She put a paper clip on them to keep them together.
By the time I came into ownership the rust had made a mess of the bills
And she had one old Florida bill could not tell if it was a remake or original the vellum it was made out of just crumbled at the touch.

Good luck

Have any of you seen the bumper sticker that says "We're Not Rich, Just Spending Our Children's Inheritance"

I'm not rich either nor do I have any children. But I am also fairy well off. I have gold, silver, coins, and a bunch of other items that would fetch a tidy sum. So if I haven't sold it all off before I die then it's my sister's problem.

As for the OP's collection, I'd head to a larger town that has a number of coin dealers and get estimates on what it's worth. If you like what they tell you then sell it, if not then keep it. But remember they won't give you face value since they also need to make money.

I live north of ALBUQUERQUE all coin shops in New Mexico have very bad ratings .

My kids do not want the coin collection and the grand kids have no interest in coin.
But when I die there will be one hell of a fight for the guns L.O.L.

Inventory it along with pictures and head to Denver, SLC, or Phoenix.

But in general they all try to screw you, as I mentioned they need to make a profit on what they buy. But just how much.

But you'll also not get face value no matter where you sell it at.

Id be interested in a few bills and maybe some coins depending what you have.

There are three values of concern: Numismatic (coin collector), melt & face. Face is the value as printed/minted. Melt is the value of the metal used in the coin. Numismatic is the collector value. The melt can be determined by finding the amount of cold/silver used in the coin then comparing it to the current price of an ounce. The first step for numismatic would be to buy a current edition of a coin collector book. Find your coins in it and then you'll know the ballpark of offers you may receive from dealers, etc. Good Luck. I have the same situation with trying to track down some foreign gold coins purchased by my wife's dad about 60 years ago.

Yes, the value of no paper trail. Real privacy, especially when purchased from another private party.

You are getting good advice
The “Junk Silver” (90% coins of which it appears you have a bit) will go for something back of melt price
Eagles will get you something North of spot price and you may well have some rarer ones that are valuable (probably not what you have stacked there
You have some US Mint stuff and you can sell on EBay or a dealer that will
Bottom line is you need to find a reputable dealer that will take it all and they will need to make a fair profit to do it which is fine

There is an outfit called "the greysheet" its a real time coin value website all dealers use it to come up with current values of coins i think its a subscription ie not free but if you have the time and interest it will give you real values of coins
If you want to know a coins relative value and rarity buy a copy of "the redbook" its a yearly publication and it is great to know if you have a 5 dollar coin or a 500 dollar coin but its yearly and isn't always "Current market value"
There is an app that you can look up specific coins it is the PCGS coin app
It will tell you alot but values are based on grade

Get in touch with these folks. I know they aren't local to you, but with the volume of what you have in the pics, the 4 or 5 hour drive to Colorado Springs is probably worth it. They are a reputable business; 3 or 4 generations(?) here in the Springs.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
