Any Interest in a Double Rifle/Big Bore Shoot in the Atlanta Area

I’ve got a couple of these that I use when preparing for a buffalo hunt. If I am able to make the shoot, I’d be glad to bring them to use. They make them for all different types of African and North American game.

I have been out of the loop for a little while, I just saw this. This sounds like a great time! The idea of the walking course would be a lot of fun. We had a great turn out last year. It was an excellent opportunity to swap stories and try out a lot of different rifles and calibers. Everyone was extremely generous with their rifles and ammo.

So far after walking my farm yesterday, I came up with 6 great shooting locations, and our thoughts are people would go through the course twice so that would give a person a max of 24 shots if they wanted to shoot twice each time which for a big bore is a lot! There is no scoring...in no way is this some type of contest! It is strictly for fun, and I am doing my very best to simulate Africa with my Farm in the woods with large Africa targets I ordered this week just to get ready!!!

I'm booked for the ATL DSC and we will be picking vacations before long here at work. I am schedule to be off the weekend of the DSC but if this shoot is a go then I may put in for a week of vacation if it works out. Sounds like a hell of a good time!

In talking to several people, I did not realize two key things about having the shoot the same weekend as DSC in Atlanta:
1. Many people could not participate since they volunteer or work at the show.
2. People would have to miss a full day of the show.
3. Doing the shoot on a Saturday seems to work for everyone.
With the above in mind, instead of trying to squeeze the shoot into the same weekend of DSC we are thinking a Saturday in March for the following reasons:
1. Deer season is over.
2. It will be beautiful weather.
3. Leaves still off the trees.
4. Almost everyone seems to be able to make a Saturday in March work.

Please stay tuned as we are trying to nail the exact Saturday down shortly!!!

It is always difficult balancing the timing of an event like this. The March time frame would be really nice on the weather!

I live in the Augusta GA area and I would be interested in coming if I can find the time. Life is very busy right now with a wife and two kids, but I love the idea!

Sounds awesome!! What’s the backstop situation like?

I’d love to host something like this at my place one day, but I would need to work on some berms first.

The great thing is my forest part of the 40 acres after taking out the 12.5 acres of fields has a series of hills that ensure a safe backstop. Yet the path I will be making means people do not have to go up and down hills they just will be shooting down into one or up into another always ensuring each of the 6 targets never come close to each other meaning any one would ever be shooting towards one of the other targets. I am hoping to have one or two of the targets somewhat in shadow replicating what we see many times in Africa!

Any more thinking on this? I’d love to join if possible and would like to get it on my calendar if it’s happening.

Sounds like a great time!

Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
