Hi Viewers,
My Son Tom (35) and I have 4 sleeps left before we depart from Sydney in Australia for Johannesburg and on to Port Elizabeth for 12 days of hunting with @KAROO WILD Safaris in Eastern Cape. The 4 spiral-horned antelope are on the menu - Eland, Kudu, Nyala (the most beautiful antelope IMO) and Bushbuck (the smallest antelope known to have killed Lion). My son is hunting with his Sako 75 in 338WM shooting 225gr Woodleighs at 2950fps and I'm taking my Sako AV in 30-06 SPRG shooting 165gr Woodleighs at 2950fps.
Stay tuned - I will add reports as I can. It's getting real now

Good luck and good hunting to you and yours. Safe travels.

Thanks AH veteran
I'm looking forward to introducing Tom to Africa. His 338WM is the same rifle I took to the Northern Transvaal in 2006 - but in upgraded livery now. Africa gets into your blood. I built a 458 Lott on a Montana 1999 action to go back after Cape Buffalo after that trip, but 2 divorces in the intervening years have delayed my return......

You will have a great time. I hunted with them last year and I'm going back again next summer.

I hope you get Lyndsies lamb shanks for dinner! Great treat.

Thanks TnKen - getting excited. (And sorry RLD - I've got my AH trainer wheels on....)

Thanks HuntingGold, I'll remember Lyndsie and drop hints.

Wish you luck!
By now, I have only collected kudu and eland from the basic spiral horn list of 4. Looking forward to your forthcoming hunt report!

Thanks mark-hunter! I reckon it's gonna be epic.

Awful long flight ahead of you-best of luck on your hunting goals, I’m sure it will be epic and I look forward to your report!

Yes, nearly 15 hours from Sydney to Joburg but the return flight is 2 hours less - go figure.

can't wait to see your trophies. and come back safe.
We're planning to take lots of photos but we're not bringing trophies back, unless we get something spectacular. I'd rather spend the money on another hunt.
We have trips booked 2 years in advance. We're hunting wild bulls and boars in Cape York in October, Sika and Tahr in New Zealand in April next year, and Asiatic Buffalo in the Northern Territory in August 2026. Planning for 2027 has begun.

Waidmannsheil! And keep us posted!

Thanks DieJager! The journey to South Africa begins today!

Perfect!

We're halfway through our hunt now and we've taken some top-class trophies. I'll get organised and post a proper hunt report when I get home on 01 SEP

Glad it’s going well!
Father son hunt is awesome,

I’m exited to see how your 30-06 and woodleighs did. I’m sure awesome.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
