How will the looting in Durban impact SA hunting?

US aid to RSA.........year 2019..................$325, 517, 061.00

@flatwater bill , no disrespect meant, but what happened or is happening in the USA has no effect on what's happening here. These are two completely different scenarios.
I disagree. Whilst the hands that actually looted may not have knowledge of the USA, the instigators and organisers who spurred them on certainly see only too well how far the boundaries in the USA were pushed with little repercussion. They probably calculated that they could get away with it here too, and they have been proved right.

KwaZulu Natal is gone. My town, Empangeni has been plundered to the ground. Fuel stations, shops, malls all destroyed and burnt down. The gunshop in town was plundered, thank God they did not breach the gunsafe. We’ve been supporting the police and private security shooting live ammo for the last two days. I attend to patients in the ER carrying a Glock 19 and a shotgun and we have shot looters holding the hospital premises. We managed to get oxygen under armed escort to the private hospital today, that will last for another four to five days with the current COVID requirements of 800-1000kg used daily. It will not be possible for the Natal economy to recover from this.

Right now there is a bit of panic buying happening; the majority of fuel does come from the Durban Genref so that will be a problem in a week or two.
In the JHB area its localised to malls and large distribution centers near the "townships" and outlying areas, example I have two flare up areas 8km away from me in opposite directions.
We are organising locally and getting together to protect malls and infrastructure in the area, the army has just started to be deployed in Alexandra about 15km away. The biggest concern is in KZN where its totally out of control.

My neighbourhood just north of Durban has now set up a well oiled militia and we are defending key access points and infrastructure around the clock. Our major issues are now fuel and food which are unavailable. We have drones scouting from the air, emergency communication networks, and support staff assisting people on patrol. We check number plates of vehicles coming in on the national data base and turn away anyone remotely suspicious. We have had multiple attempted incursions and as I type this there is a call for armed assistance to repel people infiltrating our borders.

So I have heard via a Police friend that petrol bombing has just started in Kraaifontein in the Cape Town District

My heart goes out to all of you that are directly affected. Especially those that have family, friends and property at risk.

Thank you for keeping us apprised of the current situation. There may not be much we can do at the moment, but we do care and you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Take care and God Bless!

Was emailing with a PH friend in Limpopo and he says, its still good to go there, and that the military should soon have it under control. Lets hope so.

Kevin they have been getting away with it for a long time.....

I hate that so many are having to deal with this over there and am praying for all of you and the friends I have made in RSA.
But honestly it is refreshing to see a country that prosecutes and jails corrupt politicians. In the US they get a Million dollar book deal and show up on CNN every few days - as long as they are Democrats. I hate that it is causing the turmoil but good job RSA for trying to hold elected people accountable.

Africa can be extremely challenging - it requires infinite patience, resillience and emotional reserve. But it is beautiful and rewarding too if you can navigate it. My recipe is to do what you can, where you can, but then don your pith helmet and go hunting to replenish the tank.

Well, it didn't take long. Here's Reuters coverage of the riots in RSA . One hour ago
"anger at post Apartheid inequalities underpins riots". Bull! As I said earlier......the issue will be portrayed by MNM as a black-white issue (they don't know or care about tribalism), and the black perps will be held out as victims. Already done. Victims don't need to change their behavior, and so they don't. No accountability. No blame. As for punishing the rioters?....forget it......there are 10's of thousands....it would overwhelm any system. FWIW, here's proof
US aid 2017
RSA.........531mil
Ethiopia....1,102 mill
Kenya....1,066mil
Nigeria....852mil
Moz...580mil
The list goes on and on......but to say that what affects Africa does not affect the USA or the world is foolish. It costs us......we have friends and loved ones there, we live part of our lives there. Are we elitists? No.....just concerned citizens of the world.
Stay Safe, South Africans.................I for one will tell the truth......the looters are to blame. No one else.....time to hold all humans to some standards of behavior. Not to blame history again and again.......................FWB

Problem there is a shortage of ammo from what I read

Not for people I know....the police yes....private citizens have been helping supply them when they can....I would say plenty of people there have been anticipating this shitstorm for a while...and are well stocked....

Just shoot the fkrs.....starting with the ones who activated this disaster and controlled it....mmmm....wonder if I am being a bit too PC or not....oh well...

Believe me we are. I can assure you a brenneke slug goes through a stolen microwave and the savage looter carrying it

Mugabe - I can run a country into the ground in 20 years.

Zuma - Hold my beer.

+1 and its about time.
They have been shooting the fkrs, but not enough of them.
On the other hand I don't believe the "official' numbers of deaths. I think it is a lot more than released by the media.
A lot of ammo is being sent from CT to Gunshops in Gauteng and KZN.

As of last night there will be a tenfold increase in army numbers deployed (now up to 25 000). The general day to day life in most Gauteng areas and 75% of the country goes on as normal. Durban major refinery closed and they say if people don't panic buy fuel then there is about 4 days supply available from there. The stores are starting to run low, largely not because of lack of delivery, although this will start to bite harder soon, but because all the dumbasses are panic buying.

KZN is a shit show at the moment.

As for the chronological order of events:

1. Zuma goes to prison
2. His supporters organise riots etc (Almost 100% Zulu)
3. Criminals join the mayhem for opportunistic gain.
4. We are here....

Speculation: There is a "third force" using this to destabilise the government and potentially have "their" faction gain control. BUT there ALWAYS seems to be a "third force" whenever this country turns to shit. This mythical third force must be so very brainy to pull the strings to get the country to burn but not clever enough to actually take power. If the truth be known the "third force" is nothing more than government ineptitude!

When you have 40% unemployment, lockdowns that increase that number, no government grants and pensions not being paid in full or regularly, non payment of salaries, zero service delivery, when your life has gone backwards since 1994 (except for the new and few "black diamonds") and when corruption is rife both within the private and public sectors and there is zero accountability what do you expect?!?!?!

The masses are pissed off! They are easily led. They want what they have been promised over and over and over. The thought is: if you aren't going to fulfil your promises we'll have to help ourselves.

How do you think Hitler got into power? How do you think Malema and the EFF will get into power?

Don't worry about third forces. That is just a bullshit distraction!!This is 99% just criminality and opportunists and unfortunately a very large percentage of corrupt police and politicians. The government has looted and destroyed this country and the masses are starving and desperate!

Yes it will be brought under control but the cost will be very high. And the begging bowl will be held out to the world. The African leaders from Cape to Cairo have no self pride and zero national pride. They will self enrich and trample their own children to steal another dollar. Then the bleeding hearts in the rest of the world send more money. They rub their hands together and shovel it all into their back pockets.

"The police minister just announced that an entire sea freight shipping container of live ammunition has been looted in KZN."
Not good at all. Hope that looters wont manage to steal some fully autos from police/army warehouses...

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
