Okay folks. I am headed to Namibia in April and taking two rifles (458 Lott and 338 WM).

I would normally use my Kalispell aluminum case for the trip, but I am thinking of getting a pelican. It looks like, with the custom foam etc., it might protect better on a series of flights and connections.

I would love to hear some people's thoughts on the cases and which you think is better.

Also, if Pelican, what model for two large rifles?

Many Thanks!

I don't have a Kalispel; I've got a custom made case that I've had for about 30 years that looks just like it. Never had any problems with scopes being off zero. The case has taken a beating, but they are tough and fully protect what is inside. I'm sure Pelican is good too, but if you've already got the Kalispel...use it, you don't need another rifle case.

I fly with my Pelican and two scoped rifles. Custom cut the foam for a tight fit, no issues. I've cut other foam to carry my tactical rifle with a custom fit. iM3300

I fly with my Cabelas aluminum case with no issues on four safaris. Two scoped rifles, slings and cleaning items!

I own a predecessor of the Pelican case.
I have used it on every trip and it takes whatever abuse is handed to it on every flight, on the way and inside African air space.
It has sealed gaskets and keeps out the dust and has kept two rifles safe and not needing any adjustment.
The seal is useful when your rifle has to be carried in the rear of the Bakkie down dirt roads for hours on end. No fuss, no muss.

It has six locking points if you are paranoid.
It has wheels so I take a strap along and use it as a trolly for my duffel bag in airports.
I have also rearranged the foam and carried my bow and a rifle. (Granted the bow had to be broken down a bit to fit)

I had never heard of the Kalispel until this post and I just looked it up online.

My immediate impression of them: There are no seals (on the rifle model I saw), aluminum does not bounce well, it bends and dents.

All in, I'd say buy the Pelican.

Americase would be my preference, but aluminum in most cases is superior in many ways to pelican / Storm IF properly lined.

How so better?

More durable hinges. Larger space between gun and case. Better lock accommodations. Stronger rolling wheels. Less flex. Brighter color so less likely to be run over on tarmac.
