HI Guys,

I apologize if I had missed it, but I did try searching...but am possibly a little ignorant to which terms to use to narrow it down. I'm interested in finding outfitters in South Africa that have access to free range hunting concessions that also have the ability to do a night or two in a "rustic" style tented safari. I'm going after that traditional allure and wondering what options are there. Ideally want to limit it to South Africa, but will gladly love to hear surrounding options as well.

I appreciate any and all input!

someone will be along shortly ........

I should clarify, what I mean as "free range" is subjective. Personally, anything over 8000-10,000 acres is perfectly fair chase "free range" for me. Main focus is the ability to add a night or two in an old world rustic style.

There are a few hunt reports where hunters have hunted from rustic camp settings in RSA.

One was just posted today that noted a tented camp being used. Just start looking and you will find them.

Good luck.

There is nothing like a tent camp on safari, nothing. Worth looking for. Still common in some countries, maybe not RSA though.

Good day @TTundra
We offer free range hunting on low fenced ranches and have access to private game reserves up to 65 square miles in size with free roaming buffalo, sable,Rhino and elephant on.

The lodges are old ranch houses built in the turn of the century from rock and mud. Now plastered over and painted but the floors ceilings and doors are still from a bygone era.

PM me if you would like some more info.
In good huntng
Dave

Sir, What animals are you interested in hunting? We have a Ruff-It camp, but to try and keep the travelling to a minimum, I would need to have an idea of target species. Just want to see if your target animals are in the vicinity of pur Ruff It camp.

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

Thanks! Its been a dream of mine since I was little. Now with 1 Africa hunt under the belt, I really want to fulfill that itch.

Thanks Dave, I'll give your site a go thru today.

Hi Marius,

Looking to hunt Gemsbok, Waterbuck, and Blue wildbeest. The Tented portion need only be a night or two as well. Doesn't need to be the whole trip. Thanks!

Hi @TTundra
My website is down. Been hacked . Fun.
So hopefully it will be up again soon.
If you have any queries or concerns in the mean time, please don't hesitate to contact me.

If you are looking for a truly old-school tented camp for plains game then I'd look at one of the concession hunts in Namibia. They are 100% free range and we even did one where we moved camp every day and slept in pup tents. It was a pretty cool experience. Give L'wyk a call at @Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
