thinking about So Africa again next year for a couple animals but one I really would like to get is a Honey Badger so based on experience what part of So Africa would be the best place to go? earlier this year my PH in the East Cape said he had never seen one there. thanks

Just got back from Limpopo Big Game Safaris. On the first night hunt for hunting Honey Badger from a blind we had several come into a bone pile. Hunted with night vision. It is important to hunt with an outfitter with the right equipment.

I recommend Limpopo Big Game Safaris. See my pictures in hunting report.

Great looking honey badger. Their is a you tube - national geographic film of someone keeping one as a pet and he keeps escaping.

Stoffel is the famous escaping HB. He's actually in the Limpopo area I believe and everyone knows of him.

The main thing is getting a permit and having access to some kind of lighting or NV setup. You will most likely get one from a bait or bone pile. I got mine from Limpopo area last month with Dieter Prinsloo of Mattanja Safaris.

That would be Stoffel, really cool bit of video of how smart Ratel are .

They are lots in the Limpopo as I have seen a lot even during the day some times, I don't really like to kill them myself as I like them too much but I have shot a couple so a Hypocrite I suppose !!

Oh I see you beat me to that lol !

I know what you mean about shooting them. I was thrilled to get one but I don't want to shoot more. They are too cool and useful. Someone has to slap the leopards around a bit and keep them in line.

I might shoot one more if I see a real monster like I saw in Namibia, he ate many of our Leopard baits & could reach them like a leopard thats how large he was, we nick named he "Big Head" !

Taken two weeks ago in Limpopo Province with PH Marco DuPlessis and Afrika Barrel and Bow Safari. Night hunt with IR equipment. Very interesting sitting out in total darkness in South Africa listening to sounds never heard before. Second the comment above that the right equipment and knowledge is very useful, perhaps required, for a good chance at success.

I'll second the recommendation for Bossie with Limpopo Big Game Safaris. Not just because he has the proper equipment, knows how and has a great track record hunting them, is a real night owl so up to the task, but he also gets the permits!

Living in a city with a growing juvenile crime problem, I reckon one, or a pair, would make fantastic household guards. Given up the idea of hunting them; just to watch them would be enough ...

Can you imagine walking one on a leash? Who needs a pit bull when you have a HB!

One of the few animals I couldn’t bring myself to hunt. Any dude with that kind of attitude gets nothing but respect from me.

Very good friend of mine passed away last year. He always had a poster above his desk with caption of “Don’t piss off the Honey Badger!” Would love to see one, don’t know if I could shoot one but probably would if opportunity posed itself!

Limpopo Big Game Safaris is a specialist in the night hunts and takes Honey Badger regularly. Although Honey Badger in the Eastern Cape are becoming more and more frequent, I would never advise a hunt for one there. Much better areas in the pursuit of one. Limpopo Big Game Safaris would get my vote.

Hi sir
We have the equipment and we have honey badgers and permit is not a problem
Just book in advance
Looking forward

I'm going to assume all those photos are fake.

NOTHING can kill honey badger.

You guys did very well sneaking so close while he was asleep.

I shot mine with a 375 H&H 300 TSX. We never found the bullet so I’m going to assume the HB ate the bullet just to have the last word. They are sassy like that.

I need that poster to go along with a picture of my wife;) When she gets ahold of something, or an idea, she's not likely to let it go. LOL

Loved hunting the honey badger with Dawie Kemp. Excellent set ups. It was truly nerve racking as we had a large leopard also hitting the bait. High pucker factor tracking him after shot knowing that leopard was parked somewhere close by.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
