I've finally decided to take Jerome's advice for some of us lurkers to post something. I've been a member on AH for several years but have never posted anything because...well frankly I had nothing to post!! I must say though that a day doesn't go by that I don't log onto AH and learn and live vicariously through the posts. I don't think you realize how many of us there are out here who get so much benefit from the info on this site. I've also gotten off my rear and become a member of SCI and a sponsor of this site. Thanks you so much Jerome and Brickburn for all you do for this site and I'm proud to support it. I've been blessed to have visited Africa (Botswana and South Africa) but never to hunt. I grew up hunting with my father but got away from it as an adult- I guess life gets in the way sometimes. I've recently started target shooting with a compound bow and hope to start hunting with it soon. I turn 50 in 3 1/2 years and my goal is to take my now 7 year old son on a father/son hunt to Africa to celebrate. In the meantime that bag target in my backyard is looking a lot like a big kudu- I better go get him!!

welcome H50
keep enjoying this great site , but now add your 2cents
and stop letting life get in the way of living..........

Thank you so much for coming out from behind the scenes! I really enjoyed your first post and I hope we will get to hear more from you. As I have said in the past there is a large community of AHers who have never posted but come to the site regularly I'm glad that you took the time to introduce yourself. Thanks for the appreciation and support!

:S Welcome:

Welcome H50, glad you stepped out from behind the shadows!

:S Welcome: Welcome to AH

Glad to have you posting and look forward to your input.

All the best.

Awesome to have you out of the woodwork.
Glad you enjoy the site.

Practice on the baggy Kudu in your yard. It won't be long!

Welcome out of the shadows!!!

The more the merrier!

Welcome, and glad to have you contribute!

Excellent plan for your 50th B-Day! Keep us posted as your plans progress :)

Welcome H50! I first got the urge to hunt Africa at the ripe old age of 49, and once in the blood . . . been there 7 times since. You just have to decide you want to do it. And it's a lot easier to get the wife to agree if you tell her it's two years (let alone 3.5) away - mine said sure, whatever, thinking it would never happen. When I told her two years later that I had the tickets, she had to be gently reminded she had agreed!

Welcome H50.......
And you had nothing to post ???????
Looking forward to see photos with your first harvest .....

Welcome H50. Hope you continue to participate!

H50,

Better late than never.... Welcome...Jump on in..!

Sounds like we are the same age... 3.5 to 50!

Welcome.

Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome!! :) This is just such a tremendous site and resource. I will definitely be more involved and when it comes time for my African hunting adventure it will definitely be with someone who supports this site. Hank- I love your advice! I think you gave me a nice little dinner conversation to have with the wife tonight- "Honey pass the chicken and oh! by the way I've been thinking about a nice trip to take the family on in a couple years...;)- I think it just might work!

Welcome to AH !

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
