My brother and I are going to Zimbabwe next year to hunt with CMS, this is not a 2x1 hunt we each have our own PH, although do plan to hunt together on some days if possible.

For a variety of reasons it may be difficult for him to take a gun, mainly he might have travel directly before or after that he can't take the gun with him.

We might be departing from different airports and meeting in Dubai but then on the same flight to Harare.

My question is this if I brought in two guns and he brought none is there any problem with him using my second gun on the trip? What I would do is just bring his gun as my second gun and have a 4457 filled out in my name. We don't have any registration in Virginia or anything so I don't see this being a problem on the US side. As far as Zimbabwe is concerned the gun he is using would be my gun and my name would be on all the paperwork. Would that require us to hunt together each day rather than separately?

If we wind up having to travel like this I'll send CMS a note but wanted to see if anyone else had done something similar.

Thanks in advance.

This would be a better question to ask privately than on a public forum if you are providing details. More people read this than we think.

While @375Fox is correct the simple answer is yes, this would work fine. Zim only cares do you have the license of theirs filled out correctly both guns and ammo in your name, your 4457 in your name and all ammo having the proper caliber head stamp. That’s it

Yes. Your brother can use your second gun in Zimbabwe as long as all the paperwork (Form 4457 and any Zimbabwe permits) is in your name. You do not need to hunt together every day; the arrangement just needs to be clear to CMS and properly documented.
