I am in the beginning stages of planning a Buffalo hunt. I am looking for a bolt gun in something like a 416 rigby, 458 lott, 450 rigby or 500 jeffery. I am open to other suggestions. this is not my first nor will it be my last trip to Africa. I am no stranger to big guns. I am not looking to spend 8-10k but I would like something classy, somewhat unique maybe. I know I am asking the world but just want to see what it out there.

Whenever I'm looking for a specific rifle, I generally refine a custom search on something like GunBroker, GunsInternational, Cabelas, etc. and then check it on a regular basis. For example, here's an advanced search on GunsInternational (click here).

I selected the four chamberings the OP specified in his original post. I put a max amount of $8k and them I put a low end of $1k just to get rid of non-rifle accessories that were showing up. Since this is just a made-up example, I added "Blaser" and "Ruger" to the excluded words to get rid of the more modern straight-pull rifles and the single shot No. 1's. If I was going to run this query often, I would switch the "Age of Listing" from "All" to "New this Week" to eliminate the items I had seen previously.

Keep refining the options on the left until you get an interesting listing.

I've got a very nice Winchester M70 Big 5 in 416 Rem Mag. I believe i have the original box and letter from the Custom Shop.

I have a custom shop CZ 550 in 416 Rigby. Smoothed up action, added muzzle break and a mercury recoil rod in the stock. Is a dream to shoot. DM me if interested.

Iv got an AHR CZ 550 in 416 Rigby with a RJRenner Rigby Modified stock. IE modified after a Rigby style.Wears a Leupold 1 1/5 x5 scope and could include an RMR.
Lots of upgrades.

I recently purchased a M70 in 416 rem mag for exactly the same reason. Split the cost with my son since we are both planning to hunt buffalo in 2027. I looked at most of the big bore calibers and settled on the 416 rem mag due to recoil, the Rigby was more than I was willing to spend and I didn’t want to limit ammo mfg to one so the Ruger was out.

Let me suggest that you really don't need a 400 and up to kill buffalo. A 375 H&H will kill them just as dead, less recoil and more versatile.

I have an unfired CZ-550 in .416 rigby I'd be happy to sell you.

You won’t spend $8-$10k, which has a bit of irony because many of your options cannot be purchased for $8-$10k anyway.

Of the calibers you listed, a 416 Rigby will be the least expensive. I’d suggest you look at used CZ550s and the AHR modified versions of the same. You can probably find one in $4500-$6500 range in either 416 or 458.

They are mass produced rifles, nothing special, but reliable and after being AHR customized they do look “classy” which was one of your requirements.

My question before you lay down any money is have you shot an average weight 375H&H, 416 Rigby, 458Lott, etc?

Many very experienced hunters on this forum will tell you without shame that the 375's are the upper limit of their recoil tolerance. For others it's the 416's that that they can shoot accurately, but no more.

Most of us would truly hate to see you set your heart on a rifle, only to hate it in the long run. If there's a way you can shoot one of the big bores, a test drive of sorts, you may get a better idea of what suits you best.

My suggestion is to check the obits, looking for recent deaths of longtime firearms collectors. The widow may have the list of guns purchased several decades ago and the purchase price. review the list, find one that meets your desires and offer the widow a 10% profit from the purchase price.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
