Woodleigh Hydro for buffalo?

Excellent report.

Shirley advised me the other day that they don’t intend to produce the 232Gr 9.3 or 235Gr .375 Hydro as they are too low volume. I asked how many they would need and haven’t had an answer yet.

I hope they do, I prefer the lower weights for my applications.

Load the entire magazine with Protected Points. Non expanding bullets in 9.3mm caliber make too small wound cavities in the vital organs for Cape buffalo on body shots.

My go to for water buff as well. Especially in small calibres. I generally drop to a lighter weight and push them hard. Ie 308 150 gr works better than the 180. Ive recovered a few hydros from length way shots.
with my doubles I run a hydro in the left barrel and a all copper , TSX ACP in the right. Poor angle the hydro gets shot. Very good hunting projectile.
The 286 may be too long for the 9.3x62 so try the 232 hydro they work well on bulls.
Only complaints would be the over penetration on side on shots.

Yes I have found the 286 Hydro to be very long- in the 9,3x62 and where the throat is on my rifle I am unable to fit a max load of powder (59 grs varget)

The 232 gr would fit better, and as already mentioned I think the increased velocity will help the concave nose create more wounding…

I did sacrifice a bullet and cut the end off to make it weigh 244gr and a couple mm extra for powder. I will shoot it and test it’s velocity and POI

Can someone straighten me out on this.......I 'thought' I read somewhere that the PP is best suited for cats, such a lion, and the SP is best suited for buffalo?? The more I read about the PP I have to think they would be great for buffalo too. Thank you for any input you all may have.
I think you are conflating terminologies?

PP in a Woodleigh is Protected Point.

PP in a Northfork is Percussion Point. These are designed for cats...open faster.

Perhaps?

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
