Barnes TSX is solid copper (All copper) monolithic. I've had great luck with it as it most often retains 100% of its weight, penetrates deep, and the expansion into sharp pedals has been consistent with my first hand experience over the years...

Hornady DGX, here is why.

I've had great success with Swift A-frames and Federal Hydrostatic solids.

Unable to choose more than two. Would use any, prefer the A-frame, TBBC, North fork, and TSX based on reputation. TSX is good, but its big advantage is availability. I plan to use one of the first three if possible when I take my first buffalo. Have heard of passthrough’s with TSX’s wounding a second buffalo on a broadside shot.

My son took his first whitetail this fall. 127 gr Barnes LRX out of a 6.5 CM passed through a doe’s shoulder on a 70-80 yd shot, deflected to the right and broke the leg of a second doe 30 yds behind and about 20 deg to the right of the shooting direction. Fortunately, I had a tag as well and took the second doe.

Have heard a Mark Haldane of Zambeze Delta Safaris highly recommends A-frames for this reason. I like deep penetrating bullets, but unknowingly wounding a buffalo is a nightmare. I do believe TSX have a tendency to not only penetrate deep, but also in unpredictable directions as they do so.

On Cape? I ask as Solids are more of a no-no here, generally speaking :) They are excellent on Ele, though.

Can you please elaborate on "in unpredictable directions"

Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claw. If I can get it.

Post Chinese Virus pandemic, these are hardly available in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum anymore. So I took to using Barnes TSX factory loads. Not bad either. It’s just that I personally prefer lead in a bullet.

Problem with Swift A Frames, is that they are virtually never available.

500 gr at 2100 fps I think they will all work very well. At 300 gr 375 H&H velocities you’d see more differences comparing performance. However, I’d have most confidence in swift or TBBC and the least confidence in Hornady DGX of options listed.

TSX

My opinion may differ from others, but I insist on two holes, an entrance and an exit. Yes, I'm fully aware that a pass through may wound another animal, but care should always be taken in this regard.

My lifelong experience has taught me there are 3 main things that determine how soon an animal dies from my shot.

1. The state of alert the animal is in prior to the shot.

2. The shot placement.

3. Whether the bullet passed through or stayed in the animal.

The majority of animals I've had drop at the shot and never moved from that spot were calm and had no idea I was there, were shot in a vital area, and the shot passed through. The majority that left a long tracking job were alerted and were filled with adrenaline, were not well hit but the shot would eventually be fatal, and the bullet did not fully penetrate the animal.

Not every situation was clear cut, but experience leads me to value a pass through.

I’ve never seen a TSX penetrate anything other than straight. Your example might be due to the LRX breaking off a petal or two at that range. They are designed for longer range expansion. TSX typically retain 100% weight.

Yeah, both of the buffalo that I posted pictures of above the bullet was just under the skin on the other side. I prefer all the energy to be expanded within the animal. Otherwise, might as well shoot solids.

I have seen some federal pop-up of late in 470 NE factory loads, though at a steep price. I was lucky to load up on Swift A-Frame factory ammo some time back; haven't seen them since, though their 470 NE 500-grain bullets come and go just as swiftly.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
