Before it is said ...yes I am working with a travel specialist. But I'm curious as to people's experiences with resorts/hotels they stayed at in Cape Town. Time of year will be late April. The wife and I will be in Cape Town for 3 nights 4 days after our safari. Probably something close to the water as that would make my wife happy. Looking for any experiences good or bad

The Weston on the waterfront is exceptional.

We received Ritz Carlton level service…the hotel is in great shape.. the location is very convenient.. breakfast in the restaurant is extremely good.. and the rate we paid was very fair…

The Commodore was nice. Good breakfast buffet, nice lounge, decent restaurant and bar. One block from the shopping mall and waterfront restaurants. We never felt unsafe in the area.

We stayed at the Queen Victoria Hotel, a small 35 room upscale boutique hotel, located in the V&A waterfront area. Very nice!

Can’t help with hotels. We have usually stayed for a week or two so have opted for Airbnb/VRBO etc.

Mount Nelson and Cape Grace I have had tea and drinks at. They are both worth visiting but you pay a pretty penny to stay there.

Restaurants/bars I have many recommendations if you are interested.

I’ve stayed at the Table Bay, but i think it’s still closed for renovations. Victoria and Alfred is very popular. In the summer, The Bay is very popular.

My trip report to Cape Town

MY SON AND HIS FAMILY STAYED AT ROMNEY PARK LUXURY APARTMENTS LAST YEAR. NICE, AFFORDABLE AND NEAR EVERYTHING.

My daughter & I spent a week at an affordable AirBnb near the Sea Point Promenade. It was a short walk to the water in one direction & to restaurants along Main Rd in the other.

We haven't stayed there yet but Afton House now has a place in Cape Town. We'll likely try it next time we are there.

The Commodore is very nice. Five minute walk to first class restaurants on the waterfront which we felt safe walking to at night, If you are with your wife avoid the stores selling tanzanite.

In 2023 my wife and I stayed at the Blackheath Lodge. I really liked it. It is a smaller boutique hotel with a variety of room or apartment options.

Radisson Red in V&A waterfront district. The V&A waterfront district has high security you can walk there day and night. Many other "name" hotels not in V&A and you can't walk outside at night.
I won't use Ubers in CapeTown, only private drivers.
Radission concierge will arrange for private drivers.

I stayed in Cape Town this past year and honestly enjoyed my time outside the city a lot more. Hermanus and the wine country region were so much cleaner and safer. We stayed at Camissa House in Cape town and didnt love it. Birkenhead House is Hermanus is one fo the nicest hotels ive ever stayed in around the world.

how easy is it to get a private driver in Cape Town for say a day trip or a simple ride to the airport.

I second Westin which is part of Marriott group. Excellent hotel and close to waterfront.

We have stayed at the Cressida Grand twice. Nice hotel, not real pricey.
1408 has a fantastic view of table mountain.

Uber works well for airport.
If you want to see the town use the double decker bus which does multiple stops with hop on and off options. Safe and convenient.

The missus and I stayed at Colona Castle. Superb. A little ways from town centre but was perfect for us. Elegant in all regards. I have a super tour guide if you need one.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
