I’m looking for a variable power scope for a stainless 30-06. I’m thinking a mid price range decent brand. Leupold vx3 or similar comes to mind. I don’t want a huge objective bell, 44 would be the biggest for me. 1” or 30mm tube either one is fine prefer 1” I suppose.

Let me know what you have that you would sell.

Long time members only, I will perform my due diligence on any seller. Thanks in advance.

This fella at gunbroker has many Leupold silvers for sale. I purchased a 2.5-8x32 Vx3 this month and it is as described. Riflehunter_10 scopes at gunbroker (I hope the link takes you to the right place EDIT: It does; if not, here's a link to one of his scopes and you can look at seller's other items one silver scope)

EDIT: I also bought a gloss 3.5-10x40 Vx3 that is perfect.

@MontanaGrant you are right in most cases as two things have gone the way of the dodo; gloss and silver, which is a shame for those of us wanting to resurrect and use vintage guns. I also lament the passing of chrome on motorcycles; today's blackout is so boring. Anyway, the cerakote site is listing a few Freedom scopes in silver at moderate pricing, then it jumps to the 5HD level. I like the old Vari-X 3's better and they are worth a bit of a premium in my opinion. I could be wrong, but I think they are a bit heavier built. Be interesting to see what the OP comes up with.

I 100% agree. 20 year old Vari-X 3's are holding up to continued abuse and holding zero while newer VX5/6's will crap the bed in the exact same use. Not everyone has that opinion, thus why I mentioned it. Another option is they will cerakote any scope you send them.

That seller is also good to sell offsite so you can get a better deal if you message through the ask seller a question. I bought a rifle from him about a month ago.

@John the Electrician the best quality silver colored scopes I'm aware of are roughly 15 year old Zeiss Duralyts, Diavaris, and Conquests. These can be had in the $450-$600 price range, used if you dig around on fleabay. They are rare, but not impossibly so. They also are actually metal finished, not painted silver like the cheapo tascos and whatevers from walmart.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
