W.D.M. Bell - Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter

I reread it again just this week.
He used solids all the time on every animal.
Buffalo are harmless and totally overrated in his opinion, while lions offered good, challenging hunting.

Maybe we're all kidding ourselves a little with our buffalo hunts...
Hmm

I picked up an old book today. “Big game and big game rifles” by John”Pondoro” Taylor. Small money on eBay.
I opened the cover to find some history that made me smile. Bought in 1954 so the same age as myself (old bugger).
What became of Mr. C.A. Johnson of Gokwe, S. Rhodesia ? Did he buy it on a whim in Que Que ?

@PerH
Well, both Safari Press and Trophy Room Books have the illustrated reprints in stock.
Thanks , I’ll look up some places . Safari Press don’t publish new books after they were sold for the time being , now it’s book antique they deal in .

Liberia did not fully live up to the ideals name of the country.
It’s a failure of the human condition, that those that are stronger enslave those less so.
The Atlantic slave trade began when Portuguese explorers in the 1500s traded with the warring tribes from the interior of West Africa.
The traders from the Arabian Peninsula figured this out 2000 years earlier in East Africa.
All of this, a damn shame.

The cultural history (what a grand term ) of humanity has always begun with the oppression of the weaker.
Sometimes I wonder whether human nature is ultimately a total aberration of creation.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
