I am looking at a rifle in 9.3x64 Brenneke, and it is listed as being built on an FN Supreme Commercial C Ring action.
What are the thoughts from the brain trust on these actions?
How similar are they to the FN actions that were used in the FN Browning safari rifles?

Thanks gents.

I don’t think you can go wrong with this one. I believe the main difference is the bolt stop, the FN’s using the same style as Mauser.

I always prefer the classic look of an FN over the embellished brownings.

Are they pretty much the same? Just without the embellishments?

The FN have classic lines while the brownings are fashioned like Roy W had a hand in the design.

Also, do you have a lead on ammo or components? I picked up a Brno in the same caliber on cgn two months ago and am on the hunt.

I believe you will find it's an excellent action with the desireable C vs. H ring. If it's a true FN commercial then it should have the traditional bolt release instead of the changed style on the Browning

They are extremely high quality actions as are the earlier Brownings. I have both and as with most things the earlier in the production the better the fit and finish. You can't go wrong with either!

I have been planning on a 9.3x64 for a few years, and managed to snag two boxes of loaded ammo of gunpost for 100$ a box, which was honestly not to bad.
I will have to order the dies from the states, and likely the brass from Europe.

Ellwood Epps has a nice Mauser 98 in 9.3x64 with a 26" barrel, double set triggers, claw mounts and Kahles scope for $1200 less. I'm partial to the Mauser 98 myself.
