Just had a tooth brake off even with the gum.
Don’t know what I am going to do. My dentist is off fishing.
Hurts like hell did not even know this one was bad. It had a filling years ago. It rotted under it all the way across.
The stake was not tuff now can’t even eat it.
Glad she cooked mashed potatoes.
Took some pills but holding a mouth full of crown royal vanilla agents the stub of tooth.

What happened if this happened in a out of the way hunt?

I always keep some leftover pain killers in the medicine cabinet for emergencies. I never need all that is prescribed post-op. I take them with me when I go to Africa. Gotta keep them in original labeled prescription container. And they are NOT left with the rest of meds in my toiletries bag when I go hunting. I stash them in my locked gun case.

Retired oral surgeon here. Melt some candle wax and plug it across the leftovers of the tooth. Avoid cold drinks. Get into your— or any— dentist asap. See your dentist at least twice a year. If you had done so the decay wouldn’t have gotten so severe.

Had a front bottom tooth lose a filling while in Africa. Same deal, eating wasn't comfortable. A little convoluted but looking in the bathroom mirror, took a small file the outfitter had and knocked off the sharp edge then an emery board for some finishing. Worked until I could see the dentist at home. IIRC, it happened only a couple days in to the hunt. Told the PH/outfitter. He said WTF????

This isn't going to be a popular answer with the dental sciences members on here buuuttt...

I live in rural Alaska. We don't always have reliable dental care close at hand. Years ago, on some outdoor/survival forum, I read about this stuff. I guess it's popular with preppers. I have used it several times; in fact I currently have one 'filling' that's been in a couple years now. This stuff has worked like a charm for me.

I have a bone disorder.
And the dentist said my best option was to weight for the tooth to hurt and just pull them as they come. Why I don’t go 2 times a year.
A mix of the bone problems with years of dip and cigg. ( have stopped both) but it all added up to really bad jaw bone.
If I do the wax it will be below the gum line is that ok?

Wax deal is TEMPORARY fix for an emergency situation to get you out of pain for a short period of time. Wax should NOT go below gum. You would be begging for trouble.

Therr dentiats everywhere. Overseas you can get same quality for fraction of the price.
Tooth replacement at top quality facility in ukraine for example was around 300
That would set you back 5k in usa

Just call around and find a dentist that will pull the broken part. Even Dillingham AK has community government health facility and a couple of dentists.

I had identical thing happen a few years ago with my regular dentist out of town. Called around and found a dentist willing to pull the tooth for a couple hundred dollars cash. The only issue is whether or not you want to find a specialist who can insert an implant. You have some time after the extraction to make that decision. As to the out of country question… I wouldn’t hesitate to use a reputable dentist in most any country. If stranded on an island, you’ll need a soccer ball named Wilson for support and use a big rock for the extraction :)

I have a client called Emergency Dental of America. See if they have any locations where you live. They see patients 7 days a week and nearly all walk in / not planned visits

You missed a key word in what I said: reliable. (y) There are no dentists in DLG anymore beyond Kanakanak hospital.

Yeah I don’t believe Bristol Bay has any dentists full time. There is someone that comes through twice a year in Naknek I believe. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

MIGHT NOT BE WORTH THE TRAVEL FOR A LITTLE WORK BUT IF YOU WERE GOING TO DO A "MOUTH-FULL" OR EVEN JUST A FEW INPLANTS, COSTA RICA HAS GREAT DENTISTS AT ABOUT 1/4 OF USA PRICES.

I always carry one of these when in very remote regions. For me or anyone in my camp. Obviously need to update mine it’s getting a lot of miles on it.

Never got dental work there but ive soent some time there can vouch.

But honestly if your going the removal and inplant route. Find someone/anyone local ish to removd the rest kf tour tooth. Let it heal. And go on a vacation for the implant. The savings will paybfor the trip practically

Not enough jaw bone left for implants.
All the teeth I have the root is not in the bone.
Why the dentist said pull them they were past saving.

Sorry to hear that.
Thanks just a on going problem with the bone disorder
That my choices made worse before I knew about the bd
I know tobacco didn’t help any kind of bone problems in the gums
And I don’t figure all the fights helped much
Had quite the few cracked over the years.

There sending me antibiotics some pine pills
And believe this or not they said get some suger free gum chew it get all the flavor out and put over the tooth brake.
Might try it but am going to have to ask the doc when he gets back.
This came from the lady up front

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
