I finally picked up the 1909 Argentine mauser I've been wanting for the 9.3x62 build I'd like to do, this will be a nice sister rifle to my 7x57ai arge.
I've always wanted to build a 9.3 just feels right in the mauser action like the 7x57 does. This is a because I can rifle I'll never need the power the 9.3x62 offers, but will make a nice bear or heavy cover gun.

I'd like to give it a safari/germanic look, I am looking at the 23.5" lothar walther cm barrels there $270 would not mind a Shaw but wait time is very long now. Sights I'll probably use necg sights, I'd like a banded front and one flip up or more for the rear. Talley barrel band sling stud. Probably get the same Richards micro fits stock like on my other or one of the safari type stocks, 1" soft recoil pad.

I am considering to drill the base holes 8-40 thread for the recoil, I have Talley bases I'll use and qd rings I've got. I'd like a ruined round commercial mauser bolt handle, I need to see if I can find someone with a tig welder for that. I'll rust blue everything when it's all done.
I'll do some swing m70 style safety think The gentry customs is about $180

The rifle is in decent shape, there's some pitting in the barrel but that's going anyway. Under the wood looked all good the rails are untouched which is nice. The extractor is a tad weak but I may have to mess with it I can get others. Bolt face is very nice.

Before I get the money to start I'll see if I can get 5 9.3x62 cases and a few bullets to test feeding before I buy stuff. This will be a long project but will be fun and worth when it's done.

Looks like a good project. My 9.3x62 Mauser is a lovely handling rifle. I shoot the 286gr prvi projectile at 2250fps. It has more than enough power for and deer sized creature.

For the 9.3 guys what barrel would you pick, think I'd get the 23.6" sporter

Anyone have any 9.3x62 case laying around, I would like to be 100% this action will feed or see if it needs any work. The cases don't need to be good if like to try to get 5 if possible and 5 bullets.

I shot the rifle today, all went good functions perfect. Shot at 50ish yards today, long thing I had to shoot was a usps small flat rate box. So like 6" x10 first shot was about a inch down from the top second right next to it. Aimed at bottom and 3 others were right in the middle, windage was perfect. So Definitely still a 100 yard deer rifle. I may try piling a deer with it before I change the barrel.

surprised if shot as good as it did, my dad said he's had some pretty pitted bore and they still shot good. No rest just leaning on a post behind my buddies barn.

I just checked with my buddy that can get the discount from ER shaw shipped I can a barrel for $156 I'm thinking 24"

Here's the barrel in thinking, wish I could see the contour better tho.

I'm sure the lw barrel maybe better but I've had many good shooting Shaw barrels, plus saving over $100 that will pay for one of the sights of something.

Got 5 ppu cases and 5 250 nolser accubonds to test feeding, the first 4 seem just fine but the last is to tight and jams when trying to feed. So the mag needs a little work, I've got to see how to get it working with the 9.3x62. I think since the diameter is larger at the shoulder area of the 9.3 brass compared to the 3006, so I think that's the area that needs attention.

I had to remove about .7 of a mil from the front half of the left hand rail, to get my Parker Hale originally in 30/06 to get it to feed 9.3x62,it will only hold 4 in the mag, but it now feeds like silk . load the mag & slowly work the bolt & watch what happens when the cartridge come up out of the rails & goes under the extractor, i made up 4 dummy rounds with 286 g Hornady interlock & 4 with 286 g Wooldleigh round nose & mixed them up to test it. remove the metal very slowly as you cant put it back.

Mine will feed 4 perfect so I probably won't touch much, rail work I don't think will help making room for the 5th round. I may mess with shimming the bottom metal a little bit don't think that will help with a new stock unless I inlet the bottom by hand and leave the space but then you have trigger fit problems.

I got a hold of two single stage triggers, think there from a husky. There like the military but single not a Cassette type. They have more length in the trigger so it sits closer to the butt which is nice, I'd have to cut the slot bigger on the bottom metal to clear them.

I need to make a lighter trigger spring but with the original I still like the 2 stage military better. The singles will need a bit of work to take the creep out, maybe make a screw to adjust the sear.

I polished the bottom of the tang where the trigger pivots and the original trigger but the spring is heavy and pull is 5-6 pounds but breaks clean with no creep after the First stave.

I polished the top of the ways where the bolt lugs ride. Used a paint Stir and wrapped sand paper and cleaned them up nice. Started with 320-600-800 grit.
