Tom's post about hunting shows reminded me about a show I watched yesterday on WILD Tv. Tom Miranda was hunting RSA for plains game. I noticed he seemed to be in a treestand without a PH. What are the rules around that? I always understood that if I was in a blind, a licensed PH had to be with me? Just curious......

Tom Miranda hunts with a tree stand because of his sponsors, you have to watch his show with a grain of salt. A lot of the animals he's actually taken from the ground. I know because I have talked to his PH. But that was on a old video. Now he has a partnership with someone in RSA. And he hunts a lot like the TV show people do in the states, cameraman or two in treestands and him in a treestand.

If he didn't have sponsors he'd be hunting from the ground!

Baydog, I have always hunted alone in a treestand, Elevated blind, ground blind, portable blind, and tripod in Africa. I have also done some spot and stalk on my own. Not that there is anything wrong with sharing a blind with a PH, I have just never done it.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
