Rifle rentals, how much?

I’ve seen rifle rental rates from $25 to $70 a day, some don’t charge for ammo and some charge by the round. The rifle I rented was a Sako 7mm REM Mag with Swarovski scope and a custom trigger. I have absolutely no problem renting quality firearms but not substandard ones.

During Covid I was going to rent a rifle but the outfitter was grateful that I even showed up so he waved the fee as most of his safaris were canceled in 2021.

I took my own rifle to Mozambique in 2014 as buffalo was my main target and anytime dangerous game is going to be a target I will always try to take my own rifle that I am very familiar with. I don’t want to be caught in a dangerous situation with an unfamiliar rifle.

Not entirely true
The co or outfitter selling the hunts often owns the guns and rents them out to the clients
My outfitter owned the rifle and he used a freelance PH to guide me in his absence.

He offered several different chambering of rifles and I settled on the 7mmRM for plains game.
The Sako was fitted with a Swarovski and a Supressor. .

I got a good deal and looked after the rifle.

I would consider a hire rifle again if I did it again. I would see what the offer was at the time.

The PH guiding me said his client rifle was a Howa in .300wm. I would be happy with that for what I done but I would appreciate good glass on it.

A bit bored during our lock down. While doing a major a cleaning of all of our firearms I got to thinking. What do all of you think a proper firearm rental should be on a African hunt? Our average rental rifle would be a M-70 with a Swarovski scope or a iron sighted english Mauser. Here in Zimbabwe our ammunition costs run anywhere from $15.00 to $60.00 per round, when we can find it!
which ammo costs UDS 60.- per round in Zimb ?
Not .458 + .375 they are expensive enough but not so much

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
