I never had the luxury of having specific animal shape designed target.
I stick to geometry shaped targets, I follow the MOA doctrine, and keep shooting.
On occasion, I do have roe deer 1:1 size targets, that were proven OK.
If I can keep roe deer vital zone accuracy at various distances, most likely I will keep the same on live size animal like buffalo or ele.
The problem with animal paper targets are they are two dimensional.
In case of elephant brain shot in real life, the POA depends on angle and distance, and head posture.
An for that I need three-dimensional image of vital zone (brain or heart), so with this, paper target does not help (me).
