You might be able to get a take-down Rigby. Comes with both synthetic and wood stock. Reach out to them.I would order a take-down Westley Richards if I had your budget, I don't believe you would get it by 2027 though
I would want a bit more oomph for eland or giraffe. If we are voting on cartridge choice only I’d vote 7x57. Very classic and mild to shoot.
Yup, I shot an Eland with a 7REM MAG, but I used a 375H&H for Giraffe… Eland seems to be the cutoff point and bullet type/construction will make the difference in Calibers less than .300I would want a bit more oomph for eland or giraffe.
He already has great rifles for bigger stuff. He’s got a great selection of very good rifles already.I would want a bit more oomph for eland or giraffe.
Me too. Since there wasn’t an actual menu I went with what would cover 90% of PG and what I consider to be a very classic combination of rifle and cartridge. Though I know there are some on here who have taken eland with the 7x57 it probably isn’t ideal and giraffe is certainly out of it’s league unless a shot to the neck is the plan.I would want a bit more oomph for eland or giraffe.
I don’t think that type of rifle is what he had in mind!If not stuck on a brand, pick your poison.

The .338 Norma is a ripper round...I have one on a Surgeon XL but its a beast at 16 pounds, however it is so accurate. I shoot the 300 gr Sierra Match Kings out of it. Its like a giant .243 (the case looks like a .243 on steroids)For a "heavy" plains game rifle, I recommend the 338 Norma. I have one in a Granite Mountain Action with a 24" barrel and it pushes a 250gr Northfork soft right over 3000fps. When I hunted Africa with the 338 Norma, 99% of plains game hit with it literally dropped straight down. The sole exception was a large Eland which staggered about 10 feet before falling.

I have often wondered if I put a lighter stock and a carbon barrel on it in the same chambering would it then be "carriable" for plains game.
I would pick poison over one of those butt ugly guns.If not stuck on a brand, pick your poison.
