My 60th birthday is approaching faster than I would like, but I'm planning to soften the blow with another trip to Africa to hunt plains game.
A new rifle would also help ease me into my 7th decade; I have a couple of Tikka T3X's which are great but I'd like a classic rifle with blued steel and walnut in either 7x57 or .30-06.
This has caught my eye:

I know Musgrave have a distinguished history but I've not seen any of recent manufacture. How do they compare to the major manufacturers like Sako etc.?

I shot a Musgrave last week, it looked fairly new but could have been just well cared for. Very accurate and a nice looking rifle.

I really enjoyed the feel and fit of them. A very well established rifle maker in SA. My father had two and loved hunting with them. Very accurate. Now that I live in the US I too would like to get one over here.

I Love the M98 action. Paul Mauser made a superb action that has lasted a long time and is still the core of many custom builds.
39k rand is a great price for a rifle ! Mmmm, 7x57, 3.9 kgs, Timney trigger, Turkish walnut. Jeez ! A Rigby at 12% of the price !

Has anyone imported one? Know the approximate costs?

I have the Field Deluxe in .300 H&H built on a VZ24 action.
Here’s what I can tell you about them….

- They’re made of proper Turkish walnut and steel, so they’re quite heavy.
Mine weighs 10lb all in, but keep in mind that it’s a magnum with a heavier action and barrel.
- The factory bedding job could be better, but that’s a quick and easy fix.
- They are very, very accurate!
With hand loads I have no problem getting 0.5” or better groups consistently.
- The stock design is superb. They are extremely comfortable to shoot and due to the weight, recoil is minimal.
- The new M21 action isn’t a CRF, but it’s very well made and feeds beautifully.

All in all, they’re excellent rifles.

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
