Curious when this hunt was? I took a bull there in 2018. I was under understanding that was last hunt conducted there. Has there been any progress? Pretty sad at time. The old hunting camp was destroyed and a number of wells weren’t pumping. A ranger for Kruger told me Letaba has been a problem. Really too bad, area has so much potential.

2021. It was my understand that it was tied up in court for a few years and I was the second hunt that season. I was booked to go in 2020 but had to postpone due to Covid. It looks like that it was again closed due to some court issues and as far as I know still not being hunted. A real shame. It was an amazing area with tons of buffalo and elephant. We saw lions some huge kudu and a free ranging black impala that I still regret not taking. I’d love to hunt the area again.

My bull on the bottom was just shy of 44”, bosses like bowling balls and grown together, worn to ivory in the hooks. Can’t imagine I’ll ever top it..

The bottom bull in that first pic is yore possibly the perfect buff in my view!

My 2024 and 2026 Cape Buffalo, both were taken while hunting with Tsala Hunting Safaris! The 2024 Bull was 42 inc with 16 inc bosses and the 2026 Bull is 44 inc with 17 bosses, with a SCI score of 126 1/8!

This bull had the biggest noggin of any buff I’ve seen or shot. The PH noted it right off, and was wider than we thought as well because of it. Orbital sockets were 2+” wider than my other bull and just shy of 40” even with the one horn broke short. Super cool old bull, and still in decent shape and decent amount of hair for his almost entire lack of teeth. View attachment 798849View attachment 798850View attachment 798852View attachment 798854
Perhaps I have never paid attention to it here in the states, but I am amazed at how much the skulls very in size on African animals. The size and the shapes can be very different. I noticed it with my buff, but also with the warthogs that my son and I shot. All of them from the same concession and they were all 3 very very different in structure and size.

First one Nissa 36” very polished, next 3 from Selous two forties and a stubby no person by it- he was a poor bystander who got mixed up in the crossfire’s!! $500 mistake my best deal ever!!! The skull on stand-front Zim both 36” Dagga boys. Second row Selous and last a 40” RSA bull. Killed a severely wounded bull in Niassa that Hyenas got the best of and the local fisherman were afraid of. Never got any pics but he was nice.

I was going to post a pic of my wife, my supervisor, and my cat. Apparently that’s not what you’re looking for…

Seriously though, great pics and y’all are making me want to hunt buffalo sooner rather than later.

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
