Hunting Boar in Patagonia

After several months of bad luck with my favourite game animal, the wild boar, the sunday I turning the tide!
I´m so happy!.... And I want to share with the forum fellows!



The boar was eating corn in a small square near the bush, but between the corn and the bush, about 200 yards of green grass, he found the 180 grs of my shot... a handloading charge of Remington CLSP with 41.5 grs of A27..
After a long run, the boar turn the heading for the pass... I only see the rear... at 170 yards... and then I shoot them... the bullet hit in the ass (very bad shot, but at the night and running... very difficult!) I´m surprised with the performance of tha bullet... Stop them like i hit it with a breakeless train! After that, i run with my 45 ACP and finish them with a shot in the neck!
The luck is changing now!

The 45 ACP, 230 gr lead hollow point at 820 FPS (self loading and homemade bullet by myself) I extract them from the column at the base of the neck!

And the .311 remington CLSP... the muzzle velocity is about 2500 fps, I recover them at the skin in the other side of the boar

hahahahaha!!! Fernando ("rocket) knows me very well!!! I don´t care about the "trophy", the measure of the teeths is not important to me... But, despite the big the boar is, the teeths are regulars... because this boar has no more than 4 years old!
The superior razor are big than the inferior one, because te low age... But, the body are very big!
VeloDog... my "obsolete" (like call them all my friend of the argentinian forums) is a 7,65 MAUSER argentino 1909 model... I customized them, and using an "old warrior" weapon, make by myself an custon hunter machine! The scope is an older german 6x42 Heym with one turret (only height) and the windage correction are setted with a device of my creation too... (I´m a gunsmith... so easy to make everything... )
But, about the ammo, the shot of the 7,65 and the .303 british, are the same thing! Caliber and velocity are very close, only a small amout of capacity in the case of the 7,65 respect the .303 make them slightly more powerful, but very little more!
The bullets used to the .303 are used in the 7,65... in this case, remington corelokt CLSP round nose of 180 grs.

I knew you had a Mauser Modelo 1909 Argentino pero, I remember that you said you also like the .303 British cartridge.

So, I figured it had to be one or the other.

Here in Alaska, there are very few 7.65 mm/caliber rifles in use, I suppose because we are a very long way from Argentina (unfortunately).

However, the .303 is pretty common, I guess porque our Canadian brothers and sisters are close next door and that was their standard Military rifle for many long years.

Thousands of those .303's were sold on the surplus market not long ago and USA importers brought many into Alaska for sale (I have one that is very accurate).

I really like the old WW-I and WW-II calibers for hunting deer, boar and similar size animals.

Like yourself, I have shot more than one animal with 180 grain Rem. Core-Lokt brand bullet and it worked well for me.

That particular bullet in today's Remington factory loaded balas, regulates exactly the same to the sights on my .303 as the old Military load of 174 grain spitzer, out to about 300 metres.

Very far past that and the spitzer begins to stay with the sight settings but the round nose Remington strikes the targets lower and lower, the farther out they are.

I also reload my own for the good old .303 and it is always a joy to shoot.

a friend of my town have a lee enfield .303 british, customized, and we share very huntings partys... really, both of the rifles are demolition machines!
The RN bullets have much more drop, it´s a fact...! because the form factor and the lower CB... The spitzer has a best fly and are my favourite to the long shots, before the 300 meters... But, however, the RN points of 180 grs, are A NUCLEAR BOMB... terrific effects of damage and shock as much as bigger the boar!
