Leupold with illuminated reticle is a updated version of their former model, they have long eye distance and is very rugged and habdles very much in recoil and such.

Kaps is a little German maker,mostly known for medical equipment ,i have seen a couple of them. Very good.

A good deal here also on both a illuminated reticle 1.5-6x and binoc.

Ill keep looking further for a illuminated post scope, few of them around sadly.

Sir somehow I don’t like CDS dial on the Leupold scope.
Kaps scope doesn’t have a great eye relief. In their catalog it say only 89mm. Thank you.

I think you should look at the Leica Amplus 1-6. In thick brush during limited visibility, all crosshairs disappear. That is where the illuminated dot/reticle comes in. I have this scope on my 416 Rigby and I can easily find my point of aim. Low power and low illumination work best during limited visibility.

I have this scope on my 416 Rigby and I can easily find my point of aim. Low power and low illumination work best during limited visibility.

No idea who stocks them in US, as i am in Europe, but they and others semd worldwide.,depends if some laws say yes or not.

Too bad Leupold stopped making 2-7x33 VXR, illuminated reticle,that one would suited the ,375 well.

Bapu, I’d suggest a 2 to 5 variable Leupold scope. I’ve had very good luck with that. That’s my preferred telescopic sight for the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum on my African safaris. Also my preferred optic of choice on my 7x57mm Mauser.

Obviously, you have plenty of experience with sorting out man eating leopards … so my advice is superfluous. But I’d suggest using a mount which allows the scope to quickly be removed. That way, you can use the scope for long range shots but have it removed for follow up work in thick vegetation as shooting will then be at much more close quarters and will moreover need to be very instinctive (so open iron sights with wide V backsights and an uncovered ivory bead foresight will be best).

What ammunition do you prefer in your .375 Holland & Holland Magnum pre ‘64 Winchester Model 70 for leopard? The African leopards which I’ve downed with a .375 Holland & Holland Magnum were all taken with 300Gr Nosler Partition fact loads (barring one, which was taken with a 300Gr RWS TUG),

My 375 was always open sight which was customised by Kenya Bunduki in Nairobi. I have a brass bead on the front sight with H&H style protecter and a shallow broad V with brass centre line. Generally I am using old Silvertip bullets 300 grs. Unfortunately we don’t have a big choice in India.
Moreover I have taken all my man-eaters with 30-06 and as mentioned in another post with a shotgun. I am of the option that a deer rifle and a deer cartridge not below 30-06 works brilliant on leopards.
My two cents.

I think you would be hard pressed to do any better than another 1.5-6 42. Like you I enjoy a post reticle. Illuminated would be a bonus, but I understand your wanting a reticle that will work without it should a battery fail.

Habib saheb I generally use Talley QD mounting system on all my rifles. However EAW is far superior but even the cost is much higher. I forgot to answer to your last question on mounts.

Absolutely sir. Now will have to go in for a 24mm objective. Would have preferred a 42mm objective as it would have gathered more light in twilight conditions. But still looking even if I can find a good used scope I am open to it. Thank you.
