Choice of caliber

@James Adamson , if you shoot well and confidently you 6.5x55 with 140gr Nosler Partitions, you really don´t need anything else for PG, although it might not be legal for the larger animals in some provinces.

For a larger caliber, both the .338WM and the 9,3x62 will do fine.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I cant see me doing any DG hunting any time soon but when I do I would love to do it with a 458 lott, that's why I was thinking on something bigger than 30-06 but not as big as 375 H&H.

I did think about 300 win mag but it's too close to the 30-06 for the police here to allow.

I do fancy a 9.3x62 but the rifle I am looking at doesn't come in that caliber.

Keep the suggestions coming though
James Anderson
For a good all round PG and light DG rifle that is reasonable in the weight/ recoil department I would consider the Tikka 9.3 x62 in the batue tikka. Failing that you could go with my favorite the 35 Whelan..
Neither of these will kick you out from under your hat like a light 338/ 340 mag and inside 200 yards will do all the magnums will do.
If DGis on you list later go the 9.2 x 62
