Anyone recognize this action?

Pretty cheap rifle at Cabela’s, unmarked barrel and action (serialized but no mfg I could find), anyone recognize the action or rifle brand?

Says it right on it - VZ24 - it's a Czech BRNO. large ring mauser - good stuff and popular for custom builds like this.

The marking will be on the front ring underneath the scope base.

Yep. vz.24 is one of the best 98 Mauser clones to build. I built one into 404J. It cycles like glass.

The barrel is unmarked for caliber from the pictures I can see. Going to call first thing and ask about it.

Value depends a lot on caliber. The odds are it is 30-06. It's a nice rifle but in that caliber I think $700-$800 would be max. If it is a special African caliber (e.g. 375 H&H or 404 Jeffery) it could be worth quite a bit more. However, unlikely it's 375 as the locking ring and bottom metal are not modified.

Often, those no-name Mausers are the best deals - this among them!
I'd buy it just for the stock let alone the barreled action - I think it's a steal.

Offer them less. If it's been sitting awhile they'll usually take it.

It might be a steal but for me right now it’s something I don’t need that could be better saved towards a rifle I actually want
