AHR 404 Jeffery

Importing into Canada isn’t hard for a “non-restricted” class firearm. But depending on where you are importing from it can be slow and expensive. I find it’s easy and cheap from the US, but more expensive from anywhere that requires the use of airfreight (like the UK).
However certain types of firearms can be found at low enough prices overseas that importing them can be worthwhile.

Here’s the process. Simply apply for an international import certificate from global affairs Canada (online application, free, takes about 10 minutes). Once you receive the approved import certificate (last one I did took less than a week) forward it to the exporter in whatever country you’re buying from (in the UK I used Chordline Ltd). Once the exporter gets the export license approved on that end (which took a bit longer being the UK) then they stick it on a plane and I pick it up myself at the cargo depot at the airport (which involves taking the paperwork to the customs office first to get it cleared and pay the taxes and duties. Air freight is expensive, honestly it might be cheaper to fly to Heathrow and pick it up there myself. So not worth it unless you're getting a good deal on the rifle in the first place. Also it costs about the same to ship 2 rifles as it does for 1… so I bought 2.

For importing from the USA it’s cheaper as you don’t need to use airfreight. The process is the same. However because it’s easier I just pay Prophet River Firearms to do the import for me, their fees are very reasonable.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
